So after my last post with Quasimodo's mother I decided I wanted to expand on my interpretation of his folks. I want to emphasize, I am drawing inspiration from the stage musical version of HOND, mainly in borrowing names and certain story concepts. After that, it's all my own cooking and working with the animated version.
Starting with his mother, who has been given the name Florika after her stage counterpart, she was part of a caravan. She practiced medicine and was a beautiful singer and dancer. Along their travels is when she met her love and husband, Jehan.
Jehan, named after Jehan Frollo from the book and stage counterpart, (no relation to Claude Frollo here though I'm making that clear right now. He is Jehan in name only.) A very strong young man with a big heart. A skilled carpenter and craftsman. He met Florika when the wagon she and her family were traveling in broke down and he offered to do repairs for free. He was enamored by her and before he knew it, was deeply in love with Florika and was joining her family in their travels.
They both loved each other deeply and eventually married. Not long after, Florika became pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy. (Quasimodo) Both were stunned when they first saw him, seeing he had been born with deformities. It worried them at first but they quickly worked past it, determined to still raise him. He was their son and they loved him regardless.
They had plans to reach the Court of Miracles to raise their son there. Sadly, on the way there Jehan became ill and died before they reached Paris. It broke Florika's heart but she remained strong for the sake of their child. And well... we all know of Florika's fate when she did reach Paris.
And that's about it. I'm planning on writing a short about them so all the more reason I wanted to get my notes down for both of them. Might do some AU drawings as well because them interacting with Quasimodo just gives me all kinds of feels.
