Imagine coming home around 2 a.m.

You quietly unlock the door and enter the home you and your partner share. It's pitch black. Even though you know your way around, you still manage to bump in a few things - the edge of the sofa, a doorway.

A quick trip to the bathroom to wash your face and put on whatever you sleep in. Your feet are a bit sore from all of the walking you did with your friends. They will be for at least the entirety of tomorrow.

When you get to the bedroom, you can already hear soft, irregular snores coming from your lover. Moonlight peeks through the window, because they possibly forgot or were too tired to care. They're beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful.

Your own tiredness is forgotten as you admire them from the door. That's that person you kiss, hug, tease and love. The smile, that you didn't know appeared, widens a bit more. Everything about this scene is making you giddy.

When you finally get into the bed, trying not to startle them awake from the dip of the mattress, your lover almost immediately starts gravitating towards you - turning more to you, arms slithering closer.

And then they groggily awake with that deeper inhale.

You immediately cuddle up to them, as if trying to get them to fall asleep.

"...It's just me, my love... Just came back..." You say as you press a kiss to their forehead like you often do. They somewhat grumble sleepily in response, because they probably can't even comprehend what you're saying. "...mhmm... did you enjoy yourself...?"

Their arms wrap tight around your waist before they almost black out again.

The gesture makes your heart flutter. The fact that they're groggy while doing this is even more meaningful.

As your lips are still pressed against their forehead, you respond "Yes, I did... I'll tell you tomorrow, okay? It's 2 a.m."

They hum in response before adding a half-asleep 'I love you'

You reciprocate - I love you too, darling.

Both of you cuddle up in a more comfortable position and soon fall asleep.
