Yesterday we went under contract on the flip house, aka the first house we bought and renovated together back in 2015. When we first found the house, it had been vacant and deteriorating for years and it needed a lot of work to bring it back to its former glory. The day after we closed on it in May of 2015, we started demoing the kitchen, and by October of that year, the house was done-enough for us to get married in the living room before moving in the next month. When we moved in, we didn’t have a kitchen yet, but we were just excited and grateful to be in our house that we had put so much blood, sweat, and tears in over the summer. When the opportunity came up to buy Thomas’ childhood home back (and fix it up for #HGTV) we couldn’t say no, so we ended up only living in the flip house for a year and a half before moving to our home now. Flash forward to this year, we decided to finally finish the flip house once and for all and put it on the market. We actually never finished one of the bathrooms, and after renting it out for a few years, there was some wear and tear that needed to be fixed before listing it. We, again, fixed it up together over the summer and for a hot second considered moving back into it since it has a much bigger yard than our house for the kiddos to run around on, but we ultimately decided that our time with that house had come to an end and it was time to move on. We’re not going to get our hopes up until it’s actually sold, but once it’s sold, it will open up a new journey for us.
