One of the most fun things about StarDrive is the ability to name your own ship classes (and even to name individual ships if you are so inclined)
Terran Dominace Fleet The following ship classes are assigned to my "Terran Dominance Fleets"- massive space-superiority fleets designed to be the tip of the spear for invading hostile space but more than capable of serving as rapid-response system defense should the need arise. I only need to build two to four of these things, generally.
Apocalypse-Class Dreadnought: biggest, baddest ship in my fleet designed to blast other capital ships out of the stars. Heavily armored and shielded, only one per fleet. Individual ship names: Apocalypse, Ragnarok, Eschaton.
Galactica-Class Battlestar: because come on, I had to. Two per Terran Dominance Fleet. As well-defended as the Apocalypse-class, it trades a lot of the offensive punch for four corvette-sized launch bays and ten fighter-sized launch bays. The custom, FTL-incapable (they need to hitch a ride on a Battlestar) fighters and corvettes are named Vipers and Raptors, of course. I know the Raptors should be FTL-capable, shaddap. Individual Battlestar names: Galactica, Pegasus, Columbia, Bellerophon, Pacifica, Atlantea.
Mjolnir-Class Battleship: providing lots of versatile punch for my Terran Dominace Fleets. Eight per fleet. Well-armored, trades some shielding for more punch. Individual ship names: Mjolnir, Gungnir, Excalibur, Durendal, Masamune, Muramasa, Levinbolt, Vajra, Nothung, Ascalon.
Musashi-Class Beam Frigate: Small, fast, lightly armored with strong shields and good all-around laser beam coverage, fills a nice niche between huge fleet sluggers and fighters. Ten per fleet.
Aegis-Class Capital Escort: Same size as the Musashi-Class, but with an emphasis on anti-fighter and anti-missile armaments. Three assigned to each capital ship (Dreadnoughts and Battlestars) to make sure nobody sneaks in on them and pulls a Skywalker. Nine per fleet.
Daedelus-Class Logistical Vessel: Loaded up with armor and shields, ordered to remain out of the fighting when possible. Size of a cruiser (slightly smaller than the Mjolnir-class). Brimming with supply bays and repair drones to keep the rest of the fleet running smoothly, even when it's supremely far from a planet with a resupply station. Three per fleet.
Terran Planetary Bombardment Fleet
This comes in behind a Dominance Fleet but ahead of the colony ships. It has limited combat utility and has no business jumping into a system in which I have not yet established space superiority.
Reaper-Class Planetary Devastator: Heavily armored and shielded to withstand planetary defenses like ion cannons and missile launchers, each Reaper-class hull carries eight "Death Spore" bombardment bays (Nuclear bombardment bays if I haven't researched death spores yet). The rest of the space is dedicated to ordnance storage and fabrication so they can keep bombing for far longer than is probably necessary. Five per bombardment fleet.
Three Daedelus-Class Logistical Vessels to reload the Reapers and keep them in good repair.
Four Aegis-Class to keep any hastily-built planet-launched fighters/corvettes off of them.

I am having entirely too much fun indulging my stupid military sci-fi armchair-general geek ass. But come on now! Who doesn't love space battles?!
It just makes me so happy
