Infinity Train: Book Two Summary
Alright everyone, I finally managed to locate a website that let me watch season 2 of Infinity Train for free and I literally just binged all ten episodes today. This review is probably going to be different from the first one in the sense that there will absolutely be spoilers and I’ll kind of summarize what happened from beginning to end. Also, you shouldn’t read this if you haven’t watched season 1 yet; it just won’t make too much sense. So let's begin!
So, it’s pretty clear that Tulip from season 1 is out of the picture, or at least kind of since MT (Mirror Tulip) is one of the main characters. Also, you would think that each season/book would be heavily focused on the new passenger, and I thought that too, but I think I was wrong. I’ll get into that later though.Â
Book 2 starts off with MT breaking away from “mirror law” norms as in, she’s just living her own life and trying to find a purpose to just be her own person. However, the mirror police are the biggest obstacles for her to overcome. Their duty is to make sure that she returns to the Mirror World, and if she continues to resist, they’ll shave her down into dust. Of course, she doesn’t want that and on her journey of escape, she meets our new passenger, Jesse Cosay. Jesse’s your average high school nice/cool/sporty kid (or so you would think). He gives off the impression that he doesn’t really have many problems to begin with based on the number on his hand started “31″. Also, let me remind everyone that the goal for passengers is to get off the train and to get off the train your number needs to hit “0”.Â
Anyways, they go out and about their journey, they go through some adversities, but always find ways to apologize and reconcile with each other. Oh yeah, there’s also a magical deer that tags along too. His name is Alan Dracula. I tried really hard to understand the symbolism behind that, but I’m pretty sure it’s not that deep. It’s clear that they get incredibly attached to each other and Jesse promised that he wouldn’t leave without MT. On the contrary though, when Jesse’s number finally hit “0”, his door opened and he walked through it as he was holding MT’s hand, but she couldn’t go through it because...she doesn’t have a number. She doesn’t have a goal. The train doesn’t see her as a passenger. Now, Jesse’s gone.Â
MT is understandably freaking out because her closest friend left. Her goal now: was to get off this train. She ran into some trouble along the way, but she bumped into One-One, the original train conductor, and she begged them to give her a number on her palm so that she could have the potential to actually leave. They couldn’t find it in themselves to do it though because MT isn’t human and she isn’t a passenger. Plus, with the machine that they used to “light ray engrave” a number on people’s hand - it wasn’t going to work on MT because she’s made of chrome - it just goes through her. As this was going on though, One-One realized that Jesse left the train, but came back?Â
Jesse is officially back on the train! But why? To emphasize, the train wants passengers to get off the train after they’ve solved their problems. But what is Jesse’s problem? It’s that he can’t leave with MT! So when the machine gave him his new number, it wasn’t actually a number (it was like symbols like pie - 3.14, etc). One-One and the train itself were malfunctioning because he has an impossible lesson to complete. Or is it impossible? Jesse happens to flash his palm into a reflection and a light bulb moment goes off for MT - Jesse can just flash his palm to her palm and it would reflect the number. They did that and asked One-One if this worked and they literally said: “yeah why not”. Both their doors morphed into one and they left.
Now, Jesse is back home and MT is in a world of different realities, a world of Jesse’s and Tulip’s reality! Jesse’s little brother, Nate, walks over to where they transported and ask’s MT what her name is. She stares into her reflection in a lake of water and says “Lake”. That’s where it ended, but I’m so curious to learn more about what MT’s experience is going to be like in the “real” world and if she’ll make a reappearance in season/book 3.Â
I know this was more of a long synopsis/summary, but I’m just exhausted and I can’t really use my brain right now to give an actual review of the meanings and such (even though I literally typed all of this out). I’ll be sure to make one soon though! For now, goodnight!Â
