Detail of Michelangelo's Last Judgment, 1524, fresco. Michelangelo paints himself as St. Bartholomew. Here Bartholomew is witnessing the light of his God and taking a celestial seat. Interesting parallel to the Vivisected Engineer is that St Bartholomew was flayed alive—the skin of his body cut into strips, then pulled off, leaving his body open and bleeding for ages before finally being beheaded, then crucified. The reason of this gruesome death was because he was to die the Persian way. Said to be the “most barbarous country of the East” in the ancient times. He converted Polymius (the King of Armenia) to Christianity; and because Astyages (the King’s brother) thought spreading Catholic faith a great crime, ordered his death. #vivisection #flayedman #engineers #michelangelobuonarroti #AlienCovenant #filmanalysis #torture #david8
