just realized that if you think about wizard of oz in the context of the wicked overlap then when Dorothy gets the scarecrow down from the pole and he falls and he's clumsy and wobbling about that fiyero is realizing in real time how his body moves very very differently than how it used to and even as he takes it all in and is probably internally freaking out he has to try to stay jovial for Dorothy. so im thinking about that now

nobody recognizes scarecrow fiyero, even though when we hear him speak to elphaba, his voice has not changed. we never hear scarecrow speak to anyone else in wicked: for good. this leads me to the conclusion that he avoided detection by putting on an absolutely god-awful terrible transatlantic accent.
