Weekend Escape
It has been years since we have visited the five lakes around Fuji-san. With rain forecast all weekend and yellow sand creating a haze, we were amazed everything cleared for a few minutes, and there was Fuji-san in all its glory.

Yamanashi aka Mt. Fuji Post
Mari of Team Lari Here!
Yamanashi is our special 19 of 47 stop of the day. Although, it’s getting to the point where it’s difficult for me to remember these names. I’ll have to invent a way to recall Yamanasi. Hmn. The Pokémon, Yanma, will have to do. Ahem. Yanma. Yaman. Ashi. Yamanashi. We’ll see if it works later…
As for the actual prefecture, we are now on our first landlocked area for the Chubu region. And, oh boy I’ve been waiting to see where Mt. Fuji was located. Now I can sleep in peace, whew.
-Mt. Fuji
*I never understood the lady from “Shutter” when she acted like going to Japan was a pain in the butt. Sure, your husband turned out to be a haunted creep, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Mt. Fuji and Tokyo! Argh!
*Speaking of “Shutter,” there’s also another horror inspired area around Mt. Fuji. It’s called Aokigahara Forest. It’s a forest famed for the rate of suicides performed in the area each year.
(By the by, don’t watch “The Forrest.” It’s sucks. Like really bad. Just don’t do it. Not to mention how Hollywood up and serializes on an actual serious matter… whew. Almost got me there. Leaving that debate for another post.)
*If you want to learn more about why people travel to Aokigahara to take their own lives, I believe there’s a documentary on YouTube.
*Besides the horror aspect, the forest is very quiet. No birds. No animals. Just nothing. If we do go there, then we have to stay on the paths. Venturing off can make anyone get lost, and who knows when the next search party will find you… BOO!
-Fuji Five Lakes
*I told myself I wouldn’t bring in an Inuyasha reference, but alas, TADAA! Behold the Inuyasha version of the legend of Fuji’s Five Lakes with Princess Kaguya trying to return to the heavens but GASP she turns out to be evil!
*Anyway, there’s more to here than reminisce about Inuyasha. Like the Shibazakura Festival with all the pink moss one would ever want to see!
*Fuji Q Highland with pretty freaking awesome roller coasters. Oooooh, yes. Hehe.
*Kubota Museum, which is all about the kimono artist. Umm, how about I’ll be there asap?
Yup. I look now and see that this post is an ode to Mt. Fuji and horror movies. I have no regrets. I hold no secrets here. I love horror movies. I love anime. I love Japan. The end.
Until next time, peace!
