How do you keep motivated when it comes to fitness?
I finally figured out - and it took me YEARS of yo-yoing - that it ISN'T about motivation at all! I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE tumblr and how I can romanticize the process to make it more palatable. Those pretty pictures look great when I'm setting a 6 am alarm to go running in the morning when it's dark and cold outside. What gets me up to run though, ain't motivation. It's consistency. Consistency and showing up every day (even if it's small!) makes a difference. Small consistent steps make it a routine and ultimately makes it a habit. Too many big changes too quickly makes it difficult to stick with it, and much more easy to make excuses and ultimately skip it, and fall off the bandwagon - again.
Ultimately, motivation is 100% based on how you feel in the moment. Consistency and building small, sustainable habits over time works better - at least for me :) Small progress is better than no progress!
