Slow day on the water bit I did manage to land one nice brown trout. It was a really nice fish but it had some fungus that is effecting some of the fish up here. The river and canyon are amazing and the trees are even more gold today! I think we are done for the day. This bear was directly across the creek from me. Maybe 20'. He was looking at Dan when he came out of the woods and I was untangling a fly. I looked up and screamed "BEAR!" and pointed to warn Dan. With the sound of the creek I didn't hear him. It was a scary moment. The lady at the hunting shop said a parks employee was attacked by a black bear not long ago when they surprised each other in the woods. Also, earlier that day we saw another bear while driving to this spot I swear was a grizzly. He had a hump on his back and was more ginger/brown.
