#first time playing

I have a lot of thoughts:

This chapter probably has the best direction in the entire from the gothic church aesthetic to all of the unique new game mechanics and the atmosphere of some of the cutscenes.

The “it’s okay not to smile” one stood out the most. As soon as I saw Susie’s blood on Ralsei’s face, just, Aaahh that good old visual storytelling.

My top theory is that Ralsei will have to sacrifice himself. That’s probably why he sees himself as nothing, because he knows he has to die.

Anyway on to Susie, we went from Ralsei’s place in the group in chapter 3 to Susie’s place in the group in this chapter.

when I read their conversation during the tea party, talking about how she now has everything she wanted and has a founded family, I knew I was sensing mild angst. This time with how she is often defined by a simple label: the bully at school, the fighter in battle, the girl in the prophecy. (did the prophecy pics look more like Noelle to anyone else?)

Susie x Noelle are saving me from the secondhand embarrassment I’m getting from Asgore. Every third thing this man does is a reminder why he’s divorced.

I love the old man (whose name is apparently Gerson) He’s an elderly rage baiter who just wanted to talk to his son. The idea that someone’s remains being in the dark world can temporarily revive them is such a cool concept that sounds scary when you think about it.

The pumpkin head is legit scary. Not on the sprite, the mini boss legit left me hyperventilating. His game design is cute.

I can see Carol being connected to the dark Knight now. I wasn’t sold on the theory at first, until I noticed that the Knight’s sword looks a lot like the katana in the Holidays’ kitchen. I still don’t think they’re the same person though, but the bosses so far have been relate to Noelle in a way. The King’s an abusive parent, Queen’s a controlling woman with high authority, Tenna shared memories with her sister, and the knight had horns like her Mom.

When I was just observing Deltarune, chapter 3 was the one I heard the most about because of Tenna. Everyone was talking about him and Spamton. The whole reason I got this game was so I could understand the hype around him. From what I’ve seen, yeah he’s funny, clingy, kooky, but I think I need to see more of him to get it.

Though he does give us the most insane animations in this game so far like his intro, the font of certain words. Fits how extra he is. 

Raslei’s going through it this level probably because he said that nothing from the dark world is real or at least shouldn’t be real, which of course offended Susie. (also is that Ralsei plush real and for sale?)

Lanino and Elnina have the best designs.

OK, maybe I was exaggerating when I said I hated Berdly. It was kind of funny, seeing him accept stupidity when he humbled himself. I like it when his face squishes. 

I finally met Spamton and read all his lines in my shitty Caine voice. Unfortunately, I heard that most of his scenes are in the weird route which I didn’t play. Maybe one day I’ll play it or I’ll just watch people play it.

Queen is still so goofy and stupid. I love seeing a femme fatal villain get the most ridiculous dialogue. Does she count as a bimbo or was it just the battery acid Martinis talking?

Raslei got a little butler outfit aaaahhhh 💖💖💖. Also is Ralsei a Titan or descendant of a Titan? Is that why he looks like a lightner?

Rouxsl is still here and he is still very funny. I love how they just left him to die.

Noelle and Susie literally went on a Love ride together 💜💛💜💛. Susie wagged her tail. Noelle sees as her knight in shining armor. They both immediately shut down the idea of Berdly getting in the way and starting a love triangle. and Yet Susie still scared her away 😫. Toriel, I know you’re divorced but get this girl dating advice, stat. 

I don’t think the conversation about keeping the fountains flowing will be just a one-off. Having these fountains around means more adventures, but it comes at the cost of the worlds being unbalanced. I don’t think Kris wants to seal them either but since they’re possessed, they kind of have to. I think it will lead to a chapter ending where Kris decides not to seal a fountain and leave it open, which will probably lead the terrible consequences. 

Speaking of Kris, I know now that they’re being possessed by the player, and the scenes in the bathroom and the bedroom are meant to be them freeing themselves. Is Kris usually this violent? We know they’re quiet and has a little bit of a violent side because in the search history room they look up knives. Why did they slash their mom’s car tires? what the fuck was that smoke effect in the end? Was it just a way to transition to the credits? I still have so many questions.
