My first edition collection of the Vampire Chronicles so far!! Seven (7) to go π
Look what I found in a charity shop yesterday! Only a 1958 first edition of Mary Renault's The King Must Die:
Now I know how Frank Maddox felt when David showed him the Keat's second edition he'd found by chance in a tray of old books:
"[...] Have you been buying something?" "Yes, but only an old Keats," said David, holding it out to him. Maddox looked at the title-page, which was intact, and his eyes grew round. "My goodness, you lucky beggar!" he said.
E.F. Benson, David Blaize
In The Case of the Bogus Books, Perry and Della look very happy with the outcome of the case. Once again, the Triumphant Trio gets justice for the wrongly accused and gets the real perpetrator to admit his guilt!! I love that!! β€οΈ Even if it's just fiction, it's nice to see justice prevail!! βοΈ
I gotta admit that the crime was brilliantly executed. Thankfully, Perry, Paul, and Della figured it out!!
The Princess and the Goblins first edition (1920)
finally remembered I was going to post photos. it's in pretty damn good condition for a shockingly cheap first edition. not pristine obviously but the binding is in decent shape and the pages are clean
also I love love love old notes in books. look at this:
in 1924 someone inscribed this to their son, and 100 years later, I'm lovingly placing it on my shelf and sharing that inscription. books like this are where our souls linger, I think.
