I’m honestly getting kind of frustrated with my 55, I currently only have a pleco, and my male Dempsey and male fire mouth in there.
We enacted the plan to move all the female cichlids into the finally established 50 gallon bow front in the living room, along with the golden gourami, and I am happy with that tank. I’m thinking about getting some dither fish, but I need to figure out my sick fish first :/
I kinda just feel like I can’t put anything in there with the boys. I like my fish, they’re so full of personality, but the tank feels empty and I feel limited. Honestly any suggestions welcome
The #firemouth #cichlid #fry are 32 days old, their parents have been moved to another tank. The pair couldn’t get enough to eat ~ the little ones swim faster and beat them to it! The babies are eating #spirulina from a wafer about the size of a dime, the second video they are feasting on frozen #daphnia. The human baby feeder works great! The little #cichlids are 3 weeks old today! They (with mom & dad) have taken over the #aquarium. I moved the two non family members to a new tank because the parents bullied them. For 16 days I’ve been hatching brine shrimp on the kitchen counter, doing mini water changes every day instead of weekly large one, rearranging tank furnishings to thwart territorial squabbles, adding more hiding spots to keep the cichlids feeling safe. The #firemouth #cichlid #babyfish are doing well! They are my first🔥. They have grown so fast! The new larger Cichlid tank will be happening this weekend and two (or maybe all 4) adults will be relocated. The small ones will stay behind. I’ll get busy seeking loving responsible guardians. The baby🔥 #firemouth #cichlids are 10 days old today and have started enlarging their playground with their parents blessing. The other two cichlids are losing territory fast. Two weeks ago the plan was the four adult cichlids were to be relocated to a larger tank - then the little ones appeared and complicated everything! So fascinating! I’m feeding hatched brine shrimp & powdered omnivore fish food, their parents supply the fry with whatever they’re eating by grinding it up in their mouths first then spitting out a baby food cloud.
