It is a Miracle this Beef Curry Potjie turned out sooooo Great!
This past Saturday, before Winter came in the Cape this 2020. I made a potjie. It turned out to not be the smoothest process due to the charcoal briquettes I was using. I learned something!
Cooking time: 30 minutes + 2 hours simmering
Resting time: at least 30 minutes
5 x small onions, chopped into quarters 1 x bell pepper, chopped into slices 1 x thumb sized nib of fresh ginger 3 x fresh garlic cloves, chopped 1/4 x juice of a lemon
Mix 2 1.5kg of beef cuts of your choice I am using stewing beef cuts I like bones in my potjie for the marrow flavour 20g of picked rosemary
Mix 3 1 x tablespoon of curry powder of your choice I am using this steak masala mix from the Spice Emporium down the road from me, in Claremont, Cape Town Delicious!
Mix 4 1 x large grated carrot 1 x 410ml can of tomato puree (I used braai relish)
Mix 5 2 x large carrots, chopped into 1/2 inch pieces 3 x stalks of celery, chopped into 1/2 inch pieces 3 x potatoes, chopped into 1/2 inch pieces 2 x bayleaves 1 x lemon rinds (cut large, because they are not for eating)
