The Bard of Rage's role is defined by "Corrupts their own Rage or through Rage". The Bard of Rage is a passive rage-bound player, and is most likely to serve the role of an opposition or blockage for progress in their session, or a support player. (Skip to the next purple text if you just want the Bard of Rage analysis ultimately)
Bards are the passive half of the destroyer classes, and their class focuses on passively corrupting their aspect. In the canon franchise/s, we have three canon bards: Gamzee Makara, Cronus Ampora, and Kalian Delfin. In all their behaviors, I find one is prevalent among all of them: they appear to be attracted to those who sort of embody/radiate their aspect. Let's use Gamzee for example, as the Bard of Rage he is drawn to those such as Karkat, Terezi, or Caliborn due to their excessive output of Rage. Karkat and Caliborn are more evidently 'Rage' filled, practically screaming all the time and just being what you'd expect Rage to be as a whole- pure negative energy. Terezi is a more abstract case, one that I'll explore more in the Rage aspect part of this post.
Kalian Delfin is another bard who shows this trait, being incredibly attatched to all his bonds even if it doesn't appear so at first. If you're unfamiliar with him, Kalian Delfin is one of the newest appearing characters in Hiveswap, and was confirmed as a Bard of Blood in the official server in his discord profile. All you need to know is that he is bonded incredibly so to his moirail Cridea, and is significant in Act 3's demo where he has a major role in the beginning. You could chop up his dependency on Cridea as just being her moirail, but in one post from Jerann's tumblr account, it's implied that he's always been a bit clingy/overprotective of her in general. Along with that, he tends to be very overbearing when it comes to her other quadrants (his hatred towards Luxora and Darien) and generally how she interacts with others (asking her to set him up with Onhors).
But what about how Bards interact with their aspect? Sure, we see one way they tend to be attracted to their aspect in the sense that they flock towards those related to it, but what about their personal relationship? When it comes to a bard's individual self, they have the nature to tend to corrupt or misuse their aspect for wrong. Whether it's before or after godtiering (which while on the topic, we've never really seen a true god-tiered bard), bards tend to passively destroy their aspect. Let's take another look at Gamzee and his actions in the story, specifically his use of sopor and his rampage on the other players on the meteor. Sopor acts as a catalyst towards dulling/muting his Rage, sending him into a state best comparable to what we know as being high on weed. This use of sopor acts as corruption towards his aspect, specifically his own supply of it. As for his misuse of Rage, we can use his sober state and the massacre he went on as an example. There wasn't many other scenarios I could have seen for him to better use that rage, given the isolation part on the meteor and of course the reason/s as to why he seemed to sober up, but causing conflict and death around the meteor is definitely a misuse of rage.
We do actually see a point in the story where Gamzee is able to utilize his Rage for good, tuning into his inner supply and dealing major damage to the Black King in his session's fight against their Black King. This shows that Bards, alike Princes, can have moments where they can use their aspect for good, and not end up destroying it or misusing it. Kalian's rebellious spirit is another good example of how bards have the potential to be good, as he uses his valor and fighting spirit to fight against the system of government of Alternia and Trizza's and )(IC's dictatorship.
Now what about Rage? We've talked about Rage on the blog previously, so to save time (and so I can properly upload this...), I'll paste over the aspect explanation from there.
.... let's go over the second half of our classpect: Rage. Rage is the aspect of truth and negative emotions. While Hope is the aspect that represents the future and the ideals we hold as a society, Rage embodies the search for truth good or bad. It embodies our passions for right and wrong, and how we fight for it. Rage is also able to stand metaphorically for our fights, and how anger and madness work as a component to fuel us in our fight against what we view as wrong. Hope and Rage both play a part in our beliefs, and how we use them to help strengthen our wills to FIGHT.
Nihkee Moolah is a good example of how rage can help a person channel their negative emotions into something worthwhile! In case you're unfamiliar, Nihkee Moolah is a prospit-bound rage player debuting in Hiveswap! She channels her negative emotions into fighting spirit, and even helps others along the way. In her volume, she notices how weak MPSAR (the MC of Hiveswap Friendsim) is and channels her pity and rage of seeing the weak into motivating them to work to become STRONG like her!
Gamzee Makara is another good rage player, shown through his sober phase and how sobering up caused him to enter a mode permeated by fighting. While it wasn't for an arguably good cause, it was still a way of him being powered up and fueled by his negative emotions and convictions. Acting as the Bard of Rage, he destroyed through rage, and showed up just how powerful a Rage Player can be at the end of the day when pushed to their limits.
I'll treat you to an extra tidbit about Rage I'd recently drummed up. You can take this with the Rage aspect, or flat out ignore it. Rage can also embody passion, not just negative passion as seen in Nihkee Moolahs case but also actual passion in things such as religion or other personal beliefs. Lynera Skalbi, Charun Krojib (i forgot their last name whoops-a-doodle), and the Makaras as a whole represent passion and how the Rage bound appear to have a strong connection made up of determination. For Lynera, its her flushed feelings for Bronya, manifesting in overprotective tendencies and rather explosive temperament. For Charun, they have a passion for art, and while theirs is seen as unusual, they view it as art and something to care for nonetheless. For the Makaras, how they worship both the messiahs and Lord English is a manifestation of how passion can lead to harm (ex: Assisting L.E./Caliborn to come to power, thus leading him to become a major player and villain in the story) if unmonitored.
As promised too, I'll unpack what Terezi has when it comes to Rage. Upon further thought while writing this, I've come to realize that Rage can also embody the view of Justice. Similar to how Mind has themes of justice in its aspect, Rage too has a belief of justice in its players. The difference between these two aspects comes in through how its executed, rather than just both being justice aligned. With Terezi, her execution of justice teetered towards Rage given her passion of finding and bringing justice to the believed culprit of the murders, Vriska Serket. She failed to recognize the additional clues and realize that there were multiple culprits to the case, having been unintentionally swayed due to previous conflicts she'd had with Vriska prior to the Meteor. And with her black and white view of the case, Gamzee ended up drawn to it due to the passion behind her actions and the Rage beneath them.
Now that we have the individual elements of this classpect unpacked, let's take a look at our showstopper: the Bard of Rage. One canon character has this classpect: Gamzee Makara, the purple-blooded troll of the Beta Trolls session. Going off of his character, he embodies what we've talked about already fairly decently. He appears attracted to those harboring Rage, he misuses Rage, and has shown how a bard is able to wield their aspect for good. A bard of rage is a title meant for someone similar to Gamzee, and though they don't need all his personality traits, its common for them to assume most of them. Destruction of self, unstable tendencies, anything of the sort can be something that inhabits a bard of rage.
Bards haven't gotten much time in the spotlight god tier wise, and the closest we can go to this is looking at the behavior of Gamzees enemies in his land. He appeared to be able to nullify and destroy their Rage, making them passive to him and not a threat. We can also see he's able to tap into Rage he stores in himself, though it could be an offshoot of high-blooded genes as well, given they are more prone to violence and extremities. His Rage-Mode was triggered two times in the story mode, first during the Black King fight in his session, and second during the meteor upon his sober state. When entering a state of rage, he appears to lose control of himself and his sense of right and wrong. He killed those he viewed as friends once before, and had switches in morality.
Overall, the Bard of Rage is a volatile player possible of great destruction, whether it be for the greater good or for a turn of the worse. My friend made me write this so like I hope its up to everyone's standards. Thanks for reading, and I will see you guys next post!
The Page of Doom's role is defined by "Amplifies Doom or Amplifies through Doom". The Page of Doom is a passive doom-bound player, and will be most likely to serve the role of a support in their teams session. As a Page, it'll also be apart of their job to grow as a person and learn how to properly handle their aspect. (Skip to the next green text if you just want the Page of Doom analysis ultimately)
What defines a page? A page is the passive half of the amplification/exploitation class duo, and they're able to amplify their aspect's power and direct it's powers into things such as their environment or other people. The journey of a Page is one marked by self-discovery, learning how to tap into your internalized powers, and harness your potential to the fullest. Those with the Page class are first marked by uncertainty in their aspect, even if they don't visibly show it or know of it themselves. This lack of their aspect is reflected in attempts by the Page to make up for it either in an overabundance of what they believe represents their aspect in the form of relying on others to supply it or overcompensating for it and creating a sort of mask. Tavros Nitram, Page of Breath, lacks freedom before Sburb and even during his group's session. Due to his paralysis from the legs downward, he lacks freedom of movement due to being confined to a wheelchair. A bigger part of his lack of freedom is how he is treated by others and how that treatment makes him see his own self-worth.
Tavros' relationship with Vriska is the best example of how he tended to rely on the treatment of others to define himself and his free will. His actions through out the story when he's partnered up with Vriska are reliant on what she tells him to do, from something complex such as finding the Ring of Life and helping her on her quest to defeat Lord English, or something simpler like killing her (which he couldn't ultimately do due to a lack of confidence). This is a concrete subject of which Tavros is shown to rely on Vriska for her guidance in how to use his own freedom, which ties into the page's uncertainty of how to use/interact with their aspect leading into unfortunate situations. He also overcompensated Post-Hivebent by using his legs as a newfound source of freedom and will. With his new legs, he went above and beyond with confidence, challenging Vriska to a duel after gaining back the free will he once lacked. Despite this, he still died as his confidence would best be described to be a sort of facade in order to fit better into his "Page of Breath" title. Near the end, as a ghost, he ends up developing almost completely as a Page of Breath even without properly god-tiering. He amplified other ghost's confidence, sense of freedom, and motivation, inspiring them to join in the army against Lord English alongside Meenah and Vriska. Upon meeting back up with an alive Vriska and Meenah before the fight, he shows more confidence than at the start of his journey, though it is short lived.
Jake English is our only known god-tiered page, and is the most realized of the triad of pages in canon, meaning we can use him as a more direct example of a page's powers. Honestly, the best example of his powers would be before the timeline was retconned, A.K.A the big HOPE-SPLOSION that Jake had when Aranea boosted his growth as a page by tenfold. He amplified the environment's Hope, allowing Brain Dirk to exist and also increasing the probability of crazy events such as )(IC showing up (Imagination/Dreams). As for his development, his journey started out when we first were introduced to him, seeing how he interacted with his environment and how he seemed to project a big persona onto himself in the form of a brave, passionate, and overall charismatic guy. Sure, it isn't entirely a facade, but it's a dramaticized version of his personality that plays it up to be something it isn't. We also see how he sort of lacks Hope at times in his behavior and overcompensates such as his quick call to action when beating up Meenah.
Pages overall are the class of potential. They don't seem to be powerful at first, but given time and proper standards to grow, they can flourish. Do not take this as a sign to be overbearing towards a Page in your grouping, as it is integral they also learn to stand on their own two feet. Pages, in order to reach their full potential, much learn to be able to harness their aspect and amplify in around them and inside them. They support their teams through this power, and with a fully-developed Page, victory for a team is near guaranteed with little room for failure.
Doom.... Doom, Doom, Doom. One of the most misunderstood aspects if I am to be honest. So many people see it as solely an aspect that condemns it's players to a road marked with certain death and suffering. Doom is a sad aspect, that I won't sugarcoat, but it is also an aspect that brings an understanding of suffering, fate, and in a way, prophecy. Our canon doom players consist of Sollux Captor, Mituna Captor, Wanshi Adyata, Ardata Carmia, Zebruh Codakk, Baizli Soleil, Fiamet, Bedisa Pygora, Lonner, and Garjon. I find these characters all represent and hold a good connection to Doom as a whole, and you'll see why further into this part of the analysis.
I believe that Doom as an aspect is also connected to Sburb in a sense, along with the fate of everything as a whole. Skaia creates Sburb and allows for it to happen in order to rescue itself and create new universes to prolong its life. It is a guaranteed event for Sburb to take place, no matter what. Doom is all about propechy, fate, and the end road. When you face Doom, you face gloom and suffering. Skaia's fate is perpetually doomed, always will it fall, and yet it persists. It creates a way for it to continue, despite how in every universe it has an end. Skaia is trapped in a never-ending loop when it comes to its fate, and yet it always utilizes Sburb and its players to save itself. Not all sessions work of course, but with every "failed session", there is one that is winnable. Doom does not tie into the Life Skaia produces for itself, but rather the fate of it in every universe. Skaia, Doom, and Life are all tied together. As all Aspects are, they share life with Skaia. They share purpose, and meaning. For Doom and Life, they represent the cycle of Skaia and Sburb, the story of Prospit falling and Derse rising, and the fate of everything as its known.
(Short Blurb: I also believe Doom has potential ties into the mechanisms of Sburb and is able to understand and potentially manipulate the innerworkings of the Game if you are able to reach an advanced level.)
Doom also shares ties with suffering, as noted by a whopping majority of the Homestuck classpecting community. Suffering can manifest in several forms, for some it is disabilities or illnesses that hold them back (Lonner and Mituna), actual death (Baizli and Bedisa), or just an absolute sense of despair (Sollux). Not all of those bound to Doom are great sufferers, just as those who suffer greatly are those bound to Doom. Take the Signless for example, aptly titled the "Sufferer" in alternate texts. His life was marked by leading an example and inspiring movements in Alternian population, though at the end of his life, he died a cruel and merciless death. The Signless is not a character bound to the aspect of Doom, despite his story. We can also return to the fact that not every character bound to Doom is inherently pessimistic or mopey. Wanshi Adyata is a great example, and while she does have some sides of her leaning towards pessimism, her overwhelming youthfulness and cheerfulness push it back. Doom does not drag down all of its heroes, and while it does entail for a good amount of suffering, you shouldn't see all of those bound to Doom as unfortunate sufferers who can do nothing but mope, for even the meekest Doom player has a potential for destruction.
Doom as an offensive power has yet to be shown in the comic, but we can use some inference when it comes to such things. Life, its complimentary aspect, has been shown in the comic. Given the name and its "opposite", we can infer that a god-tiered Doom player is able to control rules, the coding of Sburb, and potentially fate as a whole. While you can't expect a Doom player to be the end-all final boss or your guaranteed trump card, one can definitely wield the force to become a major asset in your game. Being able to control potentially the rules of death itself or change the rules of Life itself to your needs is a power best kept checked, and should not be taken lightly. Doom is an aspect underestimated by its heroes, allies, and enemies, and yet one could say that the close-minded view of Doom can allow for the greatest victories.
A Page of Doom is a deadly force to mess with when fully developed. The powers Pages have already are deadly, but a Page of Doom is a definitive game changer if you manage to support them to the end. Amplifying Doom could mean an array of things, you could amplify the powers rules have over you, amplify through the mechanisms of Sburb, and able to amplify the Death itself in their enemies. Take this for example, a fully realized Page of Doom could amplify Doom's death element in an enemy so much so to the point where one could find themselves overtaken by Doom. Another power could be amplifying the rules of Sburb, allowing for better progress in things such as affecting how much grist you could get to even going beyond the limits of the tiers.
As for personality, a Page of Doom will appear to lack Doom and either make up for it through their own actions or through the guidance of others. This can be applied through the Page's overreliance on others rules or never seeming to suffer. They don't understand the suffering of others due to their lack of it, leading to them to become uncertain in how to deal with it or how to empathize with those close to them who are suffering. During their journey, their path will be blocked by a sudden amount of suffering, maybe through friends or family dying or they themselves having experiences closely tied to Doom. They will have to learn their own sense of Doom, and how to amplify in their teams favor. A Page of Doom could be someone who at the end of their journey is able to understand Doom and be comfortable with it, being able to find loopholes in order to get past rules or understand suffering as being a part of life that can allow for growth.
Not my favorite analysis to write unfortunately due to how burnt out I got writing it (bleh) but it was fun nevertheless!! First ask of the blog covered :)
The Knight of Hope's role is defined by "Utilizes the Hope around them or in them". The Knight of Hope is an active hope-bound player, and will be most likely to serve the role of support in breeding the Genesis Frog, and also to make sure the session does not have an excessive lack of their aspect. (Skip to the next orange text if you just want the Knight of Hope analysis ultimately)
Knights are the active part of the Exploitation duo, their passive counter part being a Page. They're able to use their aspect as a weapon and shield, and out of all the classes they appear to be able to gain the fastest 'control' over their aspect. Another common trait among knights is their shield, or mask. All canon knights in the Homestuck webcomic share a common part of character, that being their persona they project onto the world. This persona can be projected directly, or indirectly.
Latula Pyrope, or the Knight of Mind, is the best example to use first, seeing as her persona and her real self are both incredibly different from eachother and debunked rather early when we meet her. Latula's character on the surface can be explained in one word: Radical. Her entrance is on a skateboard, and her manner of speaking is exaggerated and falls under the archetype, the "Cool Girl". While we didn't necessarily get a lot of development outside of her appearance in the first Openbound game, it's enough to know that she has a mask she puts on around everyone- or rather, almost everyone. In a conversation between Latula and Porrim, Porrim is rather direct in debunking her facade, labeling it as a product of internalized misogyny and a "need to prove to others that girls can be just as cool as boys". And Latula agrees to the point about the radicalness being a facade, though she doesn't appear to agree to the other parts of Porrim's thesis regarding her persona, and even says it's exhausting keeping the behavior up at times. Another way she puts up a shield is how she hid her disability of not being able to smell, given if it was revealed she'd be culled (coddled, in Beforan terms). On the topic of culling, another Knight shares the same struggle and way of living when it came to hiding their oddities. Of course though, culling on Beforus has a much different meaning than culling on Alternia.
Karkat Vantas serves as the Knight of Blood, and is one of the most popular characters among the fandom. Sorry for breaking my semi-formal tone, but if you haven't met at least one Karkat kinnie during your time in the Homestuck fandom, have you really been active in it at all?? Moving on, Karkat is best known for his double-cull status as a citizen on Alternia. Not only is he a mutant, having candy red blood instead of his caste's default color, but he is a member of the Lime caste. Once thought to be extinct, there's small members of the Lime caste still alive, or so it's theorized. Of course, we don't really get the liberty of immediately knowing this upon first seeing Karkat. His shirt symbol is grey, his text color is grey, and its remarked on multiple times how he hides his true blood color. Sounds familiar, doesn't it now? He hides the color of his blood to avoid certain death, and actively worries when his cover seems to be blown. When he's stabbed by Jack, and when Terezi tells him that she knows of his blood color, through all of these he appears to be rather stressed out. Sure, you can count that as his regular attitude, but it's evident that he freaks out even the slightest more when the shield he built to hide his blood breaks down even by a fracture.
Now, what about the proficency of a Knight? Knights are obviously a very powerful classpect, being able to utilize the environments store of their aspect and their own internal hold. While a Page may exploit it for others, a Knight exploits and uses their aspect for themselves. Dave Strider, our only god-tiered Knight, showcases this perfectly. He utilizes Time, creating clones and also sending himself into the past back in a doomed timeline to prevent the doom from happening once more. These offshoots assisted his teammate's efforts, but were also a benefical aspect towards himself. Being good with your aspect doesn't just mean the literal manifestation of your aspect, seeing as time can be symbolized in things such as death or music. A big chunk of Dave's character comes in through Music. His object for initiating the Scratch was a giant disc, and even before the game he showed an interest in music.
Before we move onto the aspect part of the analysis, I do want to touch up on the additional role of the Knight. Dave and Karkat both helped their space player breed the Genesis Frog, and while we can't just automatically assume this will go for every Knight, it can be seen as an educated guess. We can also use Latula's bond with Porrim to infer that they could've had interactions/bonding moments that were caused by them working together to breed the Genesis Frog. But that's just a theory, a Class Theory.
Now what's there for the Hope aspect? A lot more than meets the eye, actually. When people think of Hope, not just as an aspect but as a concept in general, people think of possibilites, the good in the world, the future. Hope represents optimism, and the belief that life will get better and the manifestation of that. Jake English is our only god-tiered Hope player we see in action, acting as the Page of Hope (Amplifies Hope or through Hope). When Jake English first god-tiers, his journey as a page is basically a forced speedrun activated by the Sylph of Light, Aranea Serket. We can see his powers as a hope player and page player in the massive Hope-splosion he causes, which seems to an extent to be able to overpower just about everything in the vicinity. In the comic, we see that he's able to overpower GrimBark Jade, and also manage to make a part of his own imagination (Brain Dirk) real. A lot of this is exaggerated and a product of both the Page aspect's overwhelming potential but too the amplification and growth caused by Aranea's intervention. While it's definitely an exaggeration and a long run for what Hope is, it is our best lead from the start. Given Jake is the only god-tiered Hope player in canon, it's a good start to go off of.
Using the Hope-splosion, we can infer Hope has a lot to do with potential and possibilities and of course as previously discussed, optimism. When mirrored with it's opposing aspect, Rage, we can see how this ties into their pairing. Hope focuses on what can be, and what the future holds, while Rage is something that focuses on the present and what is. I explained more about the Rage aspect already, as seen in some of my previous classpect posts. We can use this as a sort of base to ponder what Hope is as an aspect- by using the complimentary aspect to determine its purpose. The reason I now call it complimentary is because I was reading a post the other day and they mentioned something that Alternate Calliope (or Alternatively, the god-tiered Calliope) had said, where Space and Time aren't inherently opposing aspects, in fact they work together if anything. On the surface you see the aspect pairings as opposites, and it isn't wrong to assume that, but upon further investigation we can come to the conclusion that while the aspect pairs do represent opposite or conflicting values, they also represent how balance is a key element in the creation of everything. I'll dive more into that in another post, so for now let's focus on Hope & Rage. Rage embodies negative emotions, the truth, and bringing the truth to the light no matter how bad it is. If that is what Rage embodies, then how about Hope? If we go off just making it the opposite, then Hope would embody everything positive we feel, idealized realities, and keeping ourselves optimistic no matter what. It's a superficial view at first, however it is also insightful.
The positive emotions are a good start, and are definitely a big part of Hope. It is in the name after all... but what about the other parts? More specifically, the idealized realities? When looking at Hope players, we tend to limit ourselves to just the basic Homestuck cast, leaving us to just Jake, Eridan, and Cronus. None of them are bad, and Eridan is a good example of Hope as an aspect in a more twisted way, but its a very limited window. Thankfully though, we do have another source of information when it comes to Hope bound players.... drumroll puh-leaaseee, because the source is none other than Hiveswap! I see so many people brush it off, but the characters are an incredibly good example for representing their aspects. For Hope in particular we're going to talk about the one who bears the sign of Caprinius: Chahut Maenad. Chahut is one of the trolls revealed in the first troll call, and appears in Act 2 of Hiveswap as well in the spin-off Visual Novel styled game Friendsim. Chahut is best described to be dedicated to her cause, that being her religion and her duty as a subjuggulator. She acts as a preacher in clown church, and is shown in Friendsim to be very dedicated and sharing with her religion. Her dedication and passion for this falls in line with Hope like a the final piece does in a puzzle. She has the passion and positivity that manifests as belief and trust in the Messiahs, and her ideals and actions go hand in hand with the religion she follows. Hope is all about believing in what you trust at your core, and following your positivity even through the darkest tunnels. Chahut and Jake both embody the best parts of Hope... but what about the worst of it?
Eridan Ampora, the Prince of Hope, and one of the more complex characters of the Beta Troll line-up. He isn't one of the best characters morality wise, but when it comes to Hope, he shows the less brushed upon side of it. When Hope is taken for granted as an aspect purely for optimism and possibility, they brush over Eridan and account his actions purely as a mirror of the complimentary aspect of Hope; Rage. But when you look more into his story, and why he did what he did, it falls into line with Hope. People forget that the reason Eridan lashed out wasn't just out of anger, but rather seeing that his way was correct. When he approached Feferi in [S] Kanaya: Return to the core, his approach and motive wasn't fueled by Rage, but rather a misguided sense of Hope. His idea of royalty sticking together, and his plan to find Jack and join him were an effort of preserving his own life and Feferi's. His plans were Hope aligned, but his methods were corrupt and unable to accomplish what he wanted. As a Prince, his destiny was to destroy Hope or through Hope, and that he did. His Hope in living and not losing to Jack was what fueled his actions and led to the death of Feferi, the injuries of Kanaya and Sollux, and the destruction of the Matriorb. His destruction of Hope mirrors the creation of Rage when you see it for face value, and in a way he did create Rage for himself, but ultimately he ended up purely destroying Hope for others. And when Hope is gone completely, the only thing left is Rage.
Hope can lead to dark places when unmonitored, and using Eridan as a tale of caution can help us to recognize our own behavior and use of Hope. It is the aspect of possibility, optimism, and often times a valuable component in a session where everything seems lost. Hope has the ability to save a session, and accomplish what it seen as impossible. But you cannot have Hope without Rage, and if you lose the balance between the two, the optimism of Hope can turn into a deadly weapon that could lead to the end of what is good and right.
The Knight of Hope would be a crucial player to keep on your side, since being able to wield Hope as a weapon is an incredibly useful trait. As seen before, Hope is powerful and can be the difference Life and Doom (Badum-Tss!) for a session. A realized Knight of Hope would be powerful in providing and utilizing Hope for their session due to the lack of it, and when it comes to powers, exploiting the possibilities around them and the optimism of themselves and others could lead to overwhelmingly good outcomes for battles.
Acting as the support of the Space player (if there is one) is a good job for the Knight of Hope, given they'll be aiding a literal manifestation of what the future holds and an idealized reality most likely. With their knightly leap and natural grasp over their aspect, it's very likely to assume the breeding of the Genesis Frog will be smooth as can be. But what if there is no Space player? What if, say, you have a Space player who is incapaable of breeding a Genesis Frog? What then, would that entail for the Knight of Hope? Well, it'd be simple really... the Knight of Hope has the possibility to exploit the Hope there already is in the session prevent the Tumor from going off, since it's likely the session would be Null/Doomed. Utilizing their powers when god-tiered, they'd be able to exploit what there already is and use it to delay a future where death and the end of life is seemingly inevitable. Of course, they wouldn't be able to completely destroy the Tumor, rather instead they'd have to utilize or find ways to change their session's fate. Of course, instead of delaying the death of their teammates through the session's Tumor, they could also find a way to exploit the Tumor for good. How so I'm unaware, but with Hope anything is possible. ;)
Now what for personality? As discussed prior a Knight has proficency in their aspect, as well as a shield relating to their Aspect in order to defend themselves and hide themselves. A Knight of Hope's shield would likely be built around their own optimism and beliefs, shielding themselves from the reality around them. Alternatively, they could hide their optimism and instead be intensely pessimistic. A Knight's shield has a million ways to be presented, and to go over them all would take a while... so if you have a Knight of Hope character, I encourage you to dwell on it yourself instead of relying on my words for their shield. When it comes to the Knight of Hope's proficency, it's to be expected they'd have a strong connection to Hope spiritually and physically. To throw ideas out there, they could live in a literal fantasy world or something close adjacent, having an idealized reality built around them and we could see how their optimism is being reinforced by it. They would also likely be connected to their own ideals indefinitely so, knowing just what they want the world to be like and have so many overflowing ideas of just how to accomplish it.
Overall, a Knight of Hope has the potential to be a super strong player. With their natural efficency in Hope and the Knightly Leap, it's a strong class to have on your side. But don't focus purely on the good, and keep an eye on them, for Hope can turn from good to bad incredibly quickly just as the tides can change.
I'd enjoy ones take of analysis on a Bard of Space...
Bard of Space
The Bard of Space's role is defined by "Corrupts their own Space or through Space". The Bard of Space is a passive Space-bound player, and will be the sessions assigned Frog Breeder given their aspect, though due to their class it is entirely possible that this could play out badly. They'll corrupt Space through their actions, and by extension, could end up corrupting their team's "ultimate prize". (Skip to the next red text if you would like the Bard of Space analysis without the individual analysises of the class and aspect.)
Space is the aspect of Creation, Isolation, Stars, and responsible for creating a new universe. Those bound to Space in the comic of Homestuck are characterized most by their interest in fields of either Art, Science, or Fashion. While not every person bound to Space will be interested in this, nor will every artist or fashion designer be space-bound, the fields of art are most associated with Space. Space is also associated with isolation, both physically and at times emotionally. However, the most popular part of Space is the role its players have: creating the Genesis Frog and negotiating with their denizen, Echidna, in order to light the forge. Those bound to Space in canon are Jade Harley, Kanaya Maryam, Porrim Maryam, Calliope, Tagora Gorjek, Remele Namaaq, Mackle Holdem, and Jerann Mussel.
A few common themes and traits of Space are isolation, art, science, frogs, feminism, and beginnings. A space player in a session would be tied down to a single task in a Sburb session- breeding the Genesis Frog. Given how the two sessions we've seen with Kanaya and Jade went, it's arguably the Space player's most important task to focus entirely on breeding and creating the new universe for their session. Due to this reason, Space players are integral for a session to flourish, and allow their team even more of a chance to receive the Ultimate Reward.
Personality wise, a space player commonly holds care for their companions, even if they appear to be physically or emotionally isolated from them. For Jade and Kanaya, both were isolated physically from their friends but both still show intense care and love for their bonds. For Jerann, he cares for the truth, despite seemingly being ostracized from the rest of the highbloods of society. Even so, we can see he cares not only for the supposed truth, as well as his current relations like his matesprit Flyboi. This trait can be best described as motherly, given Space's ties to creation and feminine traits. As stated in the Extended Zodiac, a Space player's strength also lies in their patience. They can wait for a million years if the promise of a better future is on the horizon, as shown with Alt!Calliope.
For character development, a player of Space will suffer from a variety of things, but most prevalent will be the isolation or loneliness that comes with their aspect. For Jade, it was spending years alone without her friends and boyfriend, for Kanya it was feeling isolated from her other relations even despite her meddlesome nature and in the Meat timeline, her separation from Rose. For Calliope, muse of Space, it was her near entire life until Earth C. Calliope, as the Muse of Space, was shackled to isolation and yet she still shows care for those around her, she shows her fascination with everything, despite how isolated she may feel due to her physical and emotional differences. No matter what a Space-bound person may go through, they'll always bounce back and be there to support what truly matters.
So, what about a Bard of Space? What entails for a Bard of Space? Well, on surface level, you'd assume your session is doomed. Bards are notorious for their nature of destroying their aspect even if they don't mean to, so it's only given you'd assume that your session is cooked. But, it doesn't have to be that way. Bards, in a rare event, have been shown to be able to rise to the task of embodying their aspect and utilizing it to destroy using it. Not a flowery or beautiful action, but still useful nonetheless. Now, let's dive into the analysis you've been waiting for.
A Bard of Space would ghost their aspect even partially, meaning one of this classpect would be rebellious on the surface, fighting against a corrupt government. But this would not encompass their entire being, meaning a Bard of Space is likely to also be lonely at their core as are all Space players, or be a patient person who, while expressing rebellious ideals, is fine with taking the backseat of things and letting Time run its course. For a few more fun little traits, you could have them be a determined artist or scientist, but they wouldn't be very good at it for first impressions.. as are most Bards when it comes to embodying and representing their Aspect.
When it comes to Sburb, the Bard of Space would be tasked with breeding the Genesis Frog. For this session, you will more than likely need a Knight to assist your Bard, for without it failure is nearly guaranteed. Your Bard of Space has the role of destroying Space passively, meaning they'll have an increased failure rate of finding and breeding the Genesis Frog. This could manifest in a multitude of ways, ranging from accidentally killing the frogs around their world, poisoning accidentally creating a cancer inside their universe (similar to the Beta Troll's session and their version of the Genesis Frog), or simply leading to the destruction of their own session before the forge could be lit.
But let's focus on the good. Combat wise a Bard of Space would be ideal for close combat, destroying Space by simply being there. They'd be able to eliminate obstacles between their allies and enemies, allowing for easier hits and creating open spaces for battle. They'd also be able to destroy using Space, meaning they could destroy using their own alchemized creations and effectively 'LOCK IN'. Abilities for them would consist of destroying Space by eliminating the negative space between their enemies, destroying using science, and... stuff.
A Bard of Space may sound like a bad role for Sburb, but alike with all classpects... you'll just need to tap in and find that sweet method to guarantee your session the sweet taste of victory. ;)

If your backlog of requests isn't too daunting, could I ask what you'd make of a Seer of Hope?
Seer of Hope ⋮ The Sage of Faith and Dreams 🪽
A Seer of Hope's action title would be "Understands Hope or Understands through the knowledge provided of Hope." They'd be one of the most reliable positive forces in a session, not because they simply believe in the victory of their session, but because they're aware that no matter how dark it is- a session's hope is never lost.
The role of Hope in a session is to provide opportunities for its players, to provide future and belief in success, seen through Jake's assistance in pre-retcon's battle with providing the impossible to happen for a near guaranteed victory in the hopesplosion, and Eridan's attempt to save him and Feferi and provide themselves with a future of survival. Seen in those holding the aspect, Hope embodies imagination, belief, faith, what the subconcious wants, desires, and the belief that destiny will always bring you to a favorable outcome. Common symbolic themes and elements of Hope would be religion, angels, dreams, the supernatural, and everything that brings you joy.
The beginning of a Hopebounds journey often revolves around them feeling as though they are destined for something greater or desiring that fantasy-esque life. Eridan believed he would become powerful and a conqeuror alike the historical figures who he admired. Jake believed and daydreamed often of being a daring adventurer scheming cunning exploits. And while none of them were exactly wrong, their dreams still originate from dramaticized retellings or far from truth tall tales. The journey of a Hopebounds player is one of accepting reality, but still learning to perservere and be hopeful in the face of adversary. They must learn to keep their positive demeanor afloat while recognizing the faults in the world, for without their Hope, what passion will they hold to fix the world?
Seers learn and understand their aspect often through written and symbolic depictions of it in media, seen through Rose's trust in literature depicting magic and eldritch beings, and Terezi's faithfulness and interest in the written word of the law and the Alternian Justice system. A seer in a session acts as a guide for their team, aiding their movements and helping them through their advanced understanding of their aspect. Before, during, and after their journey, they learn the ins and outs of their aspect primarily through means typical that to scholars. They use written tomes, the spoken history, and the knowledge that comes to them through those before them. While this does not prevent them from learning through their own experiences and innovating their aspect themselves, they still rely more on knowledge provided by others due to their passivity. An added bonus is that at times their knowledge can be a bit cryptic or confusing to others views.
A Seer of Hope, acting as a combination of the two, would be one who learns through Hope's depictions in media. Be it fairytales or feel-good stories from real life, they learn of the positivity in the world and in turn guide others to relax and trust that everything shall go well. Their journey begins with them likely being a big fanatic of Disney or any other producer of fantastical tales with heroes and villains with the token feel-good endings. They wholeheartedly believe that they will serve in a story like that of their own, given that's what the books say. Alternatively, their parent/s could lead them to believe that by giving them stories from their own lives that are near exclusively good (think about the "How I met your mother" stories that are all lovey-dovey). The Seer of Hope overall would be a pretty positive person at the start, fueled by good will and wanting their friends (and themselves) to all experience a happy ending. The desire to be apart of something greater than themselves and to live their own fairy tale be it as the hero or the guide (in my opinion the latter is much more possible given their role) will serve as a great motive to fuel their journey when it begins on that fateful day of Sburbs release.
When their journey begins to properly advance and take place, their role will be one to guide and learn through their journey. As Rose did with her pursuit of knowledge through arcane methods such as communicating with horrorterrors (in the alt!timeline where Jegbert died due to Terezi's false guidance), and going along with Doc Scratch's advice, the Seer of Hope would be one to pursue a linear journey to have an even deeper understanding of their aspect than what they had prior. And again, while it can seem abstract to the outside viewer, the Seer of Hope knows what they are doing and will be able to understand how to get where they need to be using the guidance of those before them, be it written or spoken. To provide an example of what you could expect, they could be provided help from their exile, their denizen, their sprite, or even a fantastical entity into believing that their belief of a perfect world is true and that they are destined for greatness. The Seer would learn this through studying of ancient scrolls or an oral propechy that they must piece together slowly through the word of consorts. Either way, the knowledge that they have a destiny to achieve fuels their fantasical belief meter and desire for adventure, glory, and Hope. Through out the session, they lead their party under the belief that they have the guarantee of a fairy tale ending, led by desire and faith in their aspect to help guide them.
For an alternative route, the Seer of Hope would be misled in their journey at first, believing that their duty as the guide of the hero in the fairytale is all that they are destined to be. They don't expect anything more when their denizen (or any other guide of your choice) tells them that they aren't meant to be the hero they've always believed to be. This sudden disruption in their system would cause a disastrous mark on the Seer of Hope, leading them down a path marked by doubt in their beliefs and the possibility of lashing out especially against someone they see as more "worthy" than themselves. This path, while full of hardships, opens up the potential for the Seer of Hope to come back stronger than ever. Their teammates for one would be a good sense of stability in this time, able to hold them up and support them even in the darkest days. They'd teach the Seer of Hope the meaning of believing in your friends, and how to embrace the role of the wise sage in the journey. The realization that no hero of fable is able to succeed without someone well-versed in the world is a big moment for the Seer of Hope who goes down this path, and with it they'll rise up to take up the title granted to them by Skaia. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Seer of Hope shall rise anew and bring Hope once more. For without the presence of hope and belief, a true happy end is near impossible to accomplish.
So what about the ending of their journey? What do they come out with, and how does a fully accomplished Seer of Hope bring to the table? Well, for starters, they'd definitely be an amazing guide if you find that your party has trouble with trusting in themselves and being able to properly realize their dreams into reality. The Seer of Hope, once coming to embrace their title fully, would be able to imbue their allies with Hope and use their understanding to work around it and innovate it to make their visions realized. Say your soldiers feel as though they're overwhelmed, backed into a corner, nearing the verge of surrender. The Seer of Hope wouldn't back down with them, surrendering to the mob mentality, they'd stand up and deliver one of the most influential speeches you'd ever hear in your life. They'd speak of fantasy, of heroes, of dieties, anything hope could encompass. Anything to make their allies realize that even on the darkest day, the sun still shines behind the clouds. And it'd work, fueling yourself and your allies with vigor and faith in your victory. You'd feel weightless, but powerful. Clear-minded, but attentive. Devoted to your victory now guaranteed, and yet grateful for the chance provided by the one who bears the symbol of Hope. To show others the beauty that is Hope is the power of the Seer of Hope, and with it they can inspire and help guide their team to be faithful that Good always wins, no matter what.
That one was a bit longer than anticipated, and definitely changed the formatting.. but im pretty proud of it :B sorry for the delay, hope this reaches your standards and more!
Princes are the active half of the Destroyer class, their passive counterparts being Bards. Canon Princes in Homestuck are Dirk "The Goat" Strider, Eridan Ampora, and Kurloz Makara. Being apart of the destroyer class, all Princes ghost their opposing aspect in one way or another. For Dirk, it was his ghosting of mind and rational tendencies that led him to be a destroyer of Heart. In Eridans story, his destruction of Hope begins in the game of Sgrub, where after his pale breakup with Feferi led to him destroying both his own Hope and others. He killed his consorts- literally. This mirrors Rage almost perfectly, as the destruction through what he believed was false ideology can embody Rage fairly well. He also destroyed his session's only hope of creating a new species after the move to the Medium, the Matriorb. Dirk destroys his own aspect fairly easily as well, such as destroying his own relationships indirectly through his 'shitty' social skills and also by creating splinters of himself. Through Derse Dirk, Robo-Dirk, Mind Dirk, and the ultimate splinter; Lil Hal. He serves as the persona that conflicts most with Dirk, existing as a copy of his 13 year old self that never grew up. Kurloz too exists as a destroyer through Rage, as he caused the destruction of the Universe by aiding Gamzee in the birth of Caliborn, who would become Lord English.
Princes, as a class, have the common traits of being self-assured in their abilities, and often playing a major role (good or bad) in their respective narratives. Dirk was the savior of his session early game, considering he kept both Jane and Roxy in the game by reviving them by kissing their corpses and also helping his fellow players enter. Eridan played another major role, though for worse. He was one of the causes for the deaths in his session, effectively killing three people (though one survived due to supernatural abilities), and destroying the only source of Hope they had at the time: The Matriorb.
Overall, princes are decently active players who either destroy their aspect or destroy through it. They're characterized by a self-assured nature that can sometimes be the root cause of how they destroy their aspect, and will at times struggle with their aspect being shown in themselves.
Mind is one of four under-developed aspects in Homestuck, and the only canon players shown in the Homestuck comic are Terezi Pyrope and Latula Pyrope. It's best associated with rationality, and a set manner of logic that prevails in their choices and lifestyles. Rationality does not always equal a stone-cold lifestyle dedicated solely to the rationale of decisions. Mind Players can be vibrant and full of life, and most of all... GAMERS.
Latula is a GAMEGRL! She's totally R4D1C4L! And her classpect as the Knight of Mind is PERFECT FOR HER! Yes, she's not a completely stone-cold and calculating strategist, at least on the surface! In a conversation with Porrim, her rad skater girl attitude is exposed as what it really is: a mask. All knights have some sort of mask, a shield if you will. For Latula, she's SICK! SHE'S A SKATER, A GAMER, AND RADICAL!!!!! But she's also smart!!!! It's stated she's exhausted by the facade she puts out, and with closer analysis we can see her true nature. She's rational, and mindful about what behavior she puts out towards others. It's like a mind-game with how she calculates her appearance and nature.
Terezi is a better example of a mind player, exemplified by her presence in the comic and how we got more scenes with her than we did Latula by a lot. Her role as a Seer of Mind means she observes Mind in action, and makes choices through that mind. Her penchant for JUSTICE and trollian law is just fit for a mind player. In Terezi's version of justice, she uses her rationality to determine things such as culprits, and while it isn't perfect, it is a way of her observing mind and using it to come to conclusions as a seer. Her efforts to right the timeline with JEgbert and the magical time powers was also a good way of her using her Seer of Mind role, seeing a rational solution to a problem and using it. Mind isn't solely cold resolution in the face of adversary, but rather sticking to something you see fit as logical. Mind-bound players are described as great thinkers, and it's a near damn perfect description. Rationality and logic can be viewed abstractly at times, meaning that how each individual views logic can be different. Politics, science, morality, everything has two or more sides because of how our rationality and decision-making skills can be. There's never going to be a day where everyone is united completely because the human mind and how we perceive things is varied from person to person.
Now, what would a combo between the Prince class and the Mind class be like? Most likely they'd be self assured as were most princes, though perhaps it'd be more confident in their sense of self and identity. This ghosts Heart, which is the aspect of identity and self-exploration. As for destroying mind, they could either be an incredibly detrimental person to hang out with by being so hypocritical they make you go friggin' INSANE!!!!!! or they could be so smart they destroy you in their SICK FRIGGIN' PRESENCE. golly. wow.
i actively wanted to kill my friend spider while writing this.
-# Accommodates for Light or through Light.
Personality wise, maids have shown to be a diverse batch in their little group of three. We only have three canon examples in homestuck: Aradia Megido, Jane Crocker, and Porrim Maryam. On the surface level, all of them don't exactly show much similarities. Aradia and Jane you can just maybe attatch something there, as both are rather vibrant young ladies sometimes. Other than that, not much else to say…. However, if you dive deeper into their stories, one common theme rises: Being held back. All three maids suffer from a force blocking their path. For Aradia, it was literally dying and being restricted to a metal shell of her own body. For Jane, she was restrained indoors due to the threat of being assassinated as well as putting up a sort of mask around Jake to hide her crush on him. For Porrim, it was the misogynistic society that seemed prejudiced not only against women but jadebloods as a whole. Struggle is a common theme among the stories of maids, and it can manifest as anything it'd seem. A maid's challenge is not to just defeat this, but find their own truth. For a maid of light, they'll have to learn to make their own pursuit of knowledge and make their own fortune. The Maid of Lights barrier for learning could be as simple as having teachers with false ideas and less than good skills of teaching, or a guardian in their life directly blocking their sources of learning. They could also suffer from some sort of bad luck or have a bad view on destiny, similar to Vriska.
When we talk about powers, a maids powers are straight forward- they create their aspect. While not exactly creating, it comes close enough. While Jane revived people (creating life), and Aradia made time by freezing things or people like Jack Noir thus giving herself time to escape! The powers of a Maid of Light don't seem to flashy, as creating Light doesnt have a good ring to it on paper, but creating knowledge and fortune is a really good moveset! A maid of light can support their teammates in various ways, by creating knowledge (mostly finding and supplying it) and also turning the hands of fate to be in favor of their team by creating fortune! I could also see them creating blinding flashes of light to temporarily blind enemies, similar to what Prism from Dispatch did in the Bar Fight Scene.
