The foundation of a house is invisible. Once the building is finished, you can’t see it anymore, so it becomes difficult to tell which home is solid and which isn’t… True believers and false believers invariably live side by side, they’re on the same block, they may attend the same church, they may listen to the same preacher, go to the same Bible studies, and be so similar they are indistinguishable to most people… They apparently built their houses with similar outward style because the only difference the Lord mentioned [Matthew 7:24-27] was the foundation… They both look like Christians until you come to the real crux of the matter, and that’s the invisible foundation down at the bottom of everything. ~ John MacArthur
