How To Train Your Dragon Watch Through part 1
So before How To Train Your Dragon 2 comes out on DVD in the UK (which I think is a week or so after the US. Hopefully the digital download comes out the same day though) I have decided to rewatch the first movie and catch up on the TV series and specials.
Today I started with the first movie and I have a confession to make. I never saw this in the cinema and when I finally did I found it a every enjoyable and great movie but it didn't spark off the obsession the second movie did. I did watch the TV show when I could and still do, but I do have a lot I still have to watch, hence why I'm doing a big watch through in the run up to the second movie's DVD release. When I heard about the second movie I was looking forward to it but wasn't sure if I would be able to see it in the cinema and if I didn't then it wouldn't matter.
Now, I did pin stuff that was How To Train Your Dragon related on Pinterest before the second movie's release mostly because of hot Hiccup and that was when I came across the thing that made me change my mind about seeing the movie in the cinema. It was a bit of spoiler related fan art that made me seek out the meaning behind it an so finding out the spoiler. And I just knew I had to see this movie in the cinema. I spent the week leading up to the day I knew I'd be able to go just getting more and more obsessed, reading fanfiction and watching clips on YouTube. And going into the movie knowing some of what was going to happen didn't really spoil my enjoyment of he movie because it was like I didn't remember some of the stuff I'd been watching and reading or just enjoying seeing the clips in content of the movie. My obsession with all things How To Train Your Dragon and I don't know what it is about it that makes me so obsessed with it. It's more than just hot Hiccup.
Anyway, it's been a year or so since I first saw How To Train Your Dragon 1. And in light of my new obsession I saw the movie differently. I see it now. Why this franchise is so popular right from the start. I can't believe it took me so long to realise it.
My mother is watching The Andy Griffin Show and a woman is running for Council. Andy and all the men seem to have a problem with this. When Andy went to try to talk to her about it he told her she should do what women are suppose to do and she straight up told him that she was going to do it and encourage women to also get up and do what women aren't suppose to be doing. Needless to say I have never actually thought about the women's right thing until this show. I never had a guy tell me I couldn't do something because I was a woman. Growing up I did what all my cousins (boys) did. I would go outside with just my undies on(when I was way younger) and get muddy. I wasn't forced by my mother or father to dress in dresses and to act like a little girl. (Note: My mother was 38 and my father was 54 when they had me. I am 21 now.)
I played sports as soon as I could. and shot my first gun when I was 6. I learned how to change oil in a car when I was 9 and how to pull out and put in a floor when I was 11. In school they just skimmed over the history of Women's Rights. But now that I watch all the men in town come against this woman I can honestly say this pisses me off.
