Full-brothers MENTEE (left) and FIERCENESS (right), both sired by Lanes End Farm’s City of Light, pictured at Todd Pletcher’s Saratoga barn on Saturday morning
Making the switch to the turf last time out, Mentee (second photo) won the Oct. 4 GIII Futurity Stakes at Belmont at the Big A by 3 1/2 lengths, earning an automatic berth into the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
Fierceness (third/fourth photos), winner of the Aug. 24 GI Travers Stakes, has been training up to the GI Longines Breeders Cup Classic. Most recently, he breezed five furlongs Oct. 10 in 1:01.40 (1/5) over Saratoga’s Oklahoma Training Track.
The Repole Stable homebreds are both out of Nonna Bella (Stay Thirsty), also a Repole homebred. She produced an Uncle Mo colt this year and has been bred back to Curlin for 2025.
So. Close.
That was one of the best Travers we've had for a while. So exciting. Such a run. Damn.
