Sons of Courage part 1
Here's an au idea I've had for a bit for linked universe! I'm going to post it in parts since some of it is on tables while the rest is text, and I'm not sure how to put both on the same post.
Background for story
At the beginning of time, each of the golden goddesses had a selected champion that was an extension of their aspect of the triforce. Hylia was Nayru’s champion, representing wisdom. Demise had original been Din’s champion representing power until he chose to rebel, wanting full domination, and sought the triforce for himself. Kishin (aka the Fierce Deity) represented courage, being Faore's champion. Kishin was the first to sacrifice his divinity and be reborn as a mortal in a desperate scheme to defeat Demise. However, he was reborn much further down in the timeline then was intended. The fierce deity mask contains his power.
Story Concept
Time is Kishin reborn, like how the Zelda in skyward sword is Hylia reborn. Link feels like the fierce deity mask completes him, but fears himself a bit from the fact that such power resonates well with him. When he later learns the truth (during his adventure with the other heroes), he comes to accept the power of the mask as his own. The other heroes are his and Malon's biological kids (none of which are named Link). They had been one big, happy family when one day a golden light came and took the children (and Epona's carbon copy of a filly that ends up with Twilight). They were each taken to different points in history to fight demise/ganon. As the blood children of Kishin, they alone would be able to have victory over the champion of power (aided by the descendants of the champion of wisdom).
