Guevara's image, characterized by his beret and intense gaze, became a global symbol of rebellion and anti-imperialism. After the Cuban Revolution, he held various governmental roles in Cuba but later left to spread revolution in other parts of the world, including the Congo and Bolivia. Hope these bring back some fond memories—Spy vs. Spy by Antonio Prohias from Mad magazine. Pics 1 and 2 were first published in 1966 (as a single page, of course), and pics 3 and 4 date to 1961. You don’t have to be 60+ years old to remember these, though, as Mad re-ran and repackaged popular features like Spy vs. Spy endlessly. These days Cuba is recovering from an unprecedented fire, which has kept Matanzas, the whole island, and especially rescuers, firefighters, and authorities on full alert since the night of August 5. However, amid pain and agony, Cuba has one great consolation: since 1959, the people have never been alone in struggles, accidents, or catastrophes of any kind. Fidel never permitted it. Today, when the island remembers the 96th anniversary of his birth, the sixth that has passed without his physical presence, the people proved once again that his ideas and his example do not abandon them.
