was curious bout engagement for hollanov fics so i decided to compare to destiel. here are the results:

here is my 2025 recap:

total words written: 814,006! (about half to three-quarters of this was fanfic, not all of it was posted)

top fics: into the woods (to get the thing that makes it worth the journeying), with silence, we shout, and silver stars

highest number of hits: into the woods (to get the thing that makes it worth the journeying), at 2,312

highest number of kudos: with silence, we shout, at 260

highest number of comment threads: into the woods (to get the thing that makes it worth the journeying), at 70

highest number of bookmarks: with silence, we shout, at 62

highest number of subscriptions: into the woods (to get the thing that makes it worth the journeying), at 24

across the overall stats mark your territory (hits & kudos) and to build a home (bookmarks, closely behind in kudos and hits) are the most popular. I like both but neither is my favourite, so I fall into the majority of this poll still.

Interesting still that explicit fics explode in hits, do ok with kudos but just fall off with comments often. The average comment threads of 7.8 is a also interesting. Generally time of posting skews with everything but this is always an interesting way to look back at my fics.

Definitely a quieter year than 2024 here on tumblr, where I had a post break 100 notes, but still okay.

1. How many words have you written this year?

Not as much as I usually do, that's for sure. About 195k of fiction, both fan fiction and original, and about 25k of nonfiction essays.

2. How many works did you publish this year?

On ao3, 25. And I sold 4 stories to publications (though I didn't actually write any of them this year).

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

A Romantic Plastic Piece of Shit. I wrote the bulk of this in 2020, and then didn't touch it for like five years, even though I had BUT ONE (outlined) chapter to write but I just...did not do it. For so long. I completed it in January before my dad died and my whole life fell apart and I am REALLY proud of actually completing this WIP after so many years.

I also wrote a short original sci-fi story called Pharmacology (incidentally the future titular story for my upcoming short story collection if I ever make that happen) that I like a lot. It's really sad and really difficult and I wrote it amid so much change and bullshit in my life, but I think I really pulled off some horrific, painful, honest stuff in it and I can't wait to share it with the world. It's about teen girls who worship a influencer, experimental drug trials, and an unspoken crime.

4. What work of yours has the most hits?

Pleasure Little Treasure, at 37, 472. But this doesn't feel fair since I wrote most of it in prior years.

The most hits for something published THIS YEAR is....this absolutely filthy sirry breeding/piss kink story, A Dream To Remember . Which is very telling and funny.

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

I am pretty shocked so many people at least clicked on that piss kink fic, what the fuck. But actually--even though its my LOWEST hit number, I am astounded ANYONE read and got into my Jurassic Bros Teeth Series. But I had a few crazy loyal readers, so many of which didn't even know about the movie or ship them to begin with.

6. Favorite title you used?

Homes for Phantom Limbs, a Bruce Wayne/Alfred Pennyworth Gotham fic I wrote on a bunch of trains in the Netherlands.

7. If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?

honestly I did not repeat a single artist!

8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year?

Harry Potter/Sirius Black. Oops.

9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

My Jurassic Brossss!! Gray and Zach mitchell. I am obbsessed with them, I know everything about the versions of them in my head.

10. What work was the quickest to write?

Wringing Necks, a Pitt fic I wrote for @cicaklah in like, a matter of hours. It just poured out of me, I hardly remember a word of it.

11. What work took you the longest to write?

Tough question to answer since I finished TWO stories I started literal years ago? In terms of things I started this year and finished this year, it was See it, Say it, Sorted, my Gbbo RPF fic. I LOVED writing it but I was in the middle of moving so I could only jam like 500 words of it at a time...most notably once at a local dive bar at like 10 in the morning lol.

12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?

Too fucking many. Um...concretely, like three fics and like ten original pieces.

13. What’s your longest work of the year?

If we don't count things where the bulk was written in other years, it's my teeth (jurassic bros) series. It's almost 40k. This is hilarious because it's written IN VIGNETTES???

14. What’s your shortest work of the year?

Flush, a sirry fic I literally wrote in the notes app in my phone while stuck in traffic.

15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?

For fanfic? Teeth again but also my first drarry in forever, Delicate in Every Way But One. For original fic...so many but mostly Shock Collar, my dog daycare is it a mission from got or alcohol withdrawl induced psychosis kidnapping lesbian novella.

16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?

How does one find this out?? is there an easy way? My guess is "guilt" or "grooming." My fave G words.

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

Zach Mitchell, the older teenage brother from stupid fucking Jurassic world :( He's my best friend and my mortal enemy.

18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

Those boys from the GBBO. They're REAL PEOPLE!! Like too real! It's scary! I follow them on IG!! I listen to their podcast!! ugh!!

19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

Those brother from the house of guinness showwww

20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?

Deer Pearl, my fave fic I wrote last year, for the Passenger. It's just so good. It reads more like my original stuff than much of my fic.

YES!! Two. One with my fellow gross freak sirry bestie, @allesfresser. Alone in Mine, they did the art I wrote the fic and its sooo sexy. Then my buddy Deer also did some insane sexy art for the teeth series!

Yes! Dust and Bones, a Billy/Allan Grant fic (god lots of Jurassic Park this year) for @shark-myths, Wringing Necks, Robby/Dennis from the Pitt for @cicaklah, At Dusk, a sirry for @lqtraintracks, Winter Fruit, a Molly POV sirry fic for @typederror, If Jesus Was a Teenage Girl, lesbian wincest fic for @wonderfulwaytooweird, and those were just the official ones. Actually almost every fic I wrote this year was for someone else. Just the stupid jurassic brothers an the gratuitous sirry was for me.

25. Did you receive any gifts this year?

Yes! GOD SO MANY AND THEY WERE AMAZING!

Lately JUST my jurassic bros playlist. It fucked my whole spotify wrapped.

....Teeth, I guess. I don't know. I like Dust and Bones a lot too. Why was I only good when writing about dinosaurs.
