I made up these Cat themed Stitch markers for my Sister-in-law (@whitebeardesigns743 ) as a Christmas present. I love pulling out some of my other crafting supplies and doing something a little different now and again. I managed this stitch markers set with polymer clay and some jewelry supplies I had. It certainly was a fun challenge to come up with something cohesive as a set but distinctive individually. More challenging was making sure they were something I know she'd like and could use! I got to make this adorable bear hat this week as a commission for a coworker and it is so unbearably cute. Thankfully they were very happy with it and I am thrilled they asked me to make it for them. I even managed to use only yarn that I already had in my stash for this. 🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!🎃 I am working my day job today and when I do work on Halloween I always try to come up with something easy, comfy, and makes me giggle a little bit. This year I found this old sweater in my closet and took that as inspiration and whipped together this chunky, slouchy, green frog hat (pretty proud of this hat, not gonna lie. It's the first one I've made that I didn't hate the way it came out!) Then to complete my ensemble I found all my "Bug" themed jewlery. The other pictures I've included are my previous years at work costumes. 2019- A Pikachu as Pikachu (sweater and hat ) 2018- Staples employee (my Brother left his uniform in my car and I took it as a sign... ) Like I said, just easy and fun ways to make me smile during the day! Hello everyone! I know I haven't posted in a while and I'm hoping to soon get back into sharing my work with you all more regularly again. With covid, quarantine, and returning back to work I've been focusing of what got me excited to craft again. For a while there I was making because I felt I had to and while I was proud of what I'd make; It was a struggle to make myself work on it. To the point I was avoiding it and I had nothing I wanted share. However, I took a break from that mind set and I made the projects I had been wanting to...gave myself time to make things at what ever pace I wanted. As I result I found the excitement of creating and crafting again! Right know my excitement has been in making Afghans and Tapestries (more on those later.). This particular Afghan I made from yarn I had on hand and yarn my friends @tobeytozier & @malpal6392 gave to me. It's perfect to throw on the back of the Couch, it's wonderfully soft, and the colors are just so lovely! Quarantine catch up! Here a a couple of the things I've been working on since I last posted... 1) built a trellis, put in a stone walkway, and got gardens made on either side. 2-3) got the garden planted with the seedlings I started inside (unfortunately it looks like I didn't harden them off properly and most are in transplant shock...fingers cross they rebound Soon! 🤞(if not I'll have to direct sow...)) 4) rearrange and cleaned the sun room (it's still a work in progress , hopefully a finished finished pic soon) and the basement/laundry room(I don't have a good picture of the basement/laundry room unfortunately) 5-6) Crocheted my friend (@sara.tardif )this beautiful teal and neautral afghan blanket as a house warming gift! 💕 7) curiosity finally got to me and I made the whipped coffee. Now I have to keep myself from making it every day. 8-9) expanded the front yard flower garden to match the other side and made a little rock wall raised bed garden around the mail box. (I did that so that visually the flowers will be even with each other. When I planted last year it didn't occur to me just how slanted the hill was there...😅) Over all...busy hands are happy hands in the fibermancer house hold! As a Crafter/Fiber Artist I am always learning. While working on this quilt I have learned a few things about satin Damask/Brocade... 1) it very, VERY easily frays and falls apart at the cut edges 2) due to the smooth fiber texture and point #1 it pulls apart from the seen seams easily 3) you should probably use more than a 1/4inch seam allowance when working with this fabric. 4 ) due to the above reasons the fabric should be reenforced with either another bit of cloth or (as my great aunt suggest) folded over on itself to create a re-enforced edge And hide the fraying edge from the seam... So...I have come to far to take it all apart and use a different material and I don't have enough/any of this fabric left to re cut it for the folder seam method.
