Puppet is quite an interesting character, she dresses in a masculine style, has an androgynous appearance and voice, and is a mysterious and eccentric but friendly and funny person. Her gender has been a topic of debate lately, whether she's a trans boy or non-binary. In any case, you can refer to her as "they" however you want to interpret her.
She and her twin seem to have knowledge about shadows and how they work. In my AU-rewrite, they both seem to belong not to our world but to a dimension where the World of Shadows is located, the Supernatural Realm; specifically, they are specters.

Her overall design is inspired by an axolotl, although she shares some elements of a ferret and a shark. Her locomotion is that of a shark, and her row of teeth is similar to those of such animals. Her mouth can produce a row of ropes or she can breathe fire. Sometimes she can expel an amorphous mass that could be described as her flesh, transforming into a monster. She only uses this in dangerous situations. Since she is inspired by an axolotl, those purple things that resemble the gills of that animal can be used as a defense mechanism and can duplicate themselves. Her pupils are rectangular and their dilation is similar to that of a cat, depending on how she feels. Speaking of cats, she still retains her characteristic grimace. She appears to be a means of transportation, as two or three can ride on her as if she were a dragon, she reminds me of Toothless hahaha.
She may seem eccentric and somewhat strange, but when she transforms into an axolotl… she becomes mysterious and even defensive if anyone dares to harm her or her twin sister.
