EXPOSURE THERAPY 6.23.26 - AMERICANA A show dedicated to America.............................. Archives til 7.7.26 (scroll down) or playlist This show was planned many months ago to tie into the upcoming Fourth of July timing but the day before, there was a fatal shooting (2 deaths, one injury) at the library in my town. Another teenager with access to guns and disturbing spaces on the internet (I won't speculate too much about his mind and all the factors that caused it, but the news noted him as being "inspired" by Columbine.). It was disturbing and sickening and the face of the shooter almost makes me wish mob justice could be enacted. And to be honest I always wondered not if it would ever happen where I live but when. I felt like I had to say something on air while I played all this very political music - some of which of having the unfortunate associations with shooters like KMFDM (why that STILL gets dragged up is a point of much ire among fans). I don't feel I said all I could have said, and I feel plagued that I could have done better. One thing I certainly wanted to say, though its been said 1000 times to little avail to those who believe it, it really really really is not the music that causes this. If that were true, I'd be pretty fucked too. (I also inaccurately mentioned George Floyd as having been shot - I know he wasn't, but I think understandably that was in my head that night.)
