"You're leaving?" The familiar voice came from the other workbench on the far side of the lab, from the man he was still getting used to being related to. "It's not four already, is it?”

With a shake of his head, Fitz slid his laptop into his bag before lifting it up onto his shoulder. “Almost. We’re out of Jemma’s favorite tea, and I was going to see if I could pick up a box on my way home. I’ll be back on Monday.”

Radcliffe scoffed and shook his head with a small frown. “We have tea. I think I have some of that brand she likes in the cupboard, still, from Christmas. I’ll send it home with you. You always rush out on Fridays.”

a Leophelia Valentine’s Day fic, written to follow up from sparks into fireworks

Summary:  After his transfer, Leopold thought things would be easy. They wouldn't be perfect, nothing ever really was, but he was actively starting to pursue a new relationship, and he didn't have his daughter over Valentine's Day weekend, and he could actually plan something romantic - at least, that had been the plan, until he got a call from his ex-wife's fiancé, asking for a favor.

He let out a sigh, squeezing his eyes shut for a moment before glancing at the time. "Can it wait until my lunch hour? When I said I’m about to start, I meant like right now-”

“Oh! No!” Will interrupted him quickly, and he heard the deep breath he took through the phone. “No, we don’t need you to do anything right this second. It’s just... can you take Alya for the weekend?”

Frowning, Leopold glanced at the date and time in the corner of his computer screen. He’d only dropped his daughter off at school half an hour before, and that was after having her all week. The new arrangement was great, it really was, but it didn’t mean much if they were going to keep changing up the schedule. “I... isn’t it Jemma’s weekend? I already made plans with Ophelia for Sunday...”

“Yeah, that’s... that’s why we’re asking. Because of Valentine’s Day. It’s just that, I have to fly back out to Houston Monday morning to finish my paperwork and put in my last two weeks before the transfer. And...”

“And, you were hoping you could have the day free so you could spend some time together before you left,” he finished, letting out a slow sigh.

One day, I’ll actually answer one of these before half the world isn’t in Wednesday anymore, I swear.

Before I actually answer this, I want to give an honorable mention to the canon dialogue I put in parentheses the other night. Very proud of that. Very sad about the implications. However....... that’s not technically my writing? So, I’ll give you a real answer.

All I’ve been working on this week is my upcoming Bruises Verse fic for February Fic Fest, and I’m just being sad about Fitz 24/7 he’s still Fitz at this point of that AU and it’s weird and I kind of hate it thank you but I set up this metaphor about how there’s this idea of what family is supposed to be in his head and it’s one of these pillars that’s holding up the idea of who he is, and:

The pillar that held up part of him cracked and crumbled, but not enough to discourage him, not enough to fall. No, his idea of family was stronger than that, strong enough to make him let his guard down, even when he knew he shouldn't.

Coughing out another laugh, Fitz shook his head and dug his buzzing phone out of his pocket. "Yeah, I'm going to teach you how to set a timer on the oven on the off chance you ever do something like this again. You've learned your lesson about baking without supervision, I'm sure, but just in case..." He stopped while he looked down at the screen, taking a deep breath and letting it out in a slow sigh. "And that is Jemma. With the seventh missed call. Shit... I'm gonna go call her back before I get into any more trouble. Don't set anything else on fire."

During extended breaks between missions, Trevor could take a few days to be with his boyfriend, and their friends, and have a normal life. He hadn't had a chance to do that, before the mission that had put him in that building in the first place, and it was something he had learned to appreciate. Sure, before SHIELD was a part of his life at all, things had been as normal as they got. He spent his days with his family, taking care of his sister and making sure she was prepared when she went off to school, making sure he had his own life balanced between keeping his sanity and whatever part time job he had at the time.

i wrote 600 words because i got carried away with my thoughts again oops. but have some flashback stuff for funsies!

Fitz closed the window as quickly as it had opened, his fingers trembling while he stared at the still open folder on the screen. His name in the corner seemed too clear, like the pixels had been arranged too perfectly to be real. Because, if it was real, that would mean something he couldn't face, couldn't put into words when all of the memories from within the Framework seemed too real. He needed reality to slow down so that he could sort out the illusion, and if anyone else in SHIELD saw those files, it would only keep moving too fast for him to handle.

i’m supposed to be making an outline so this actually has a plot, but am i doing that? no, i’m simply making myself framework sad
