hi! for fic tropes, whatβs your feeling towards the classic Slow Burn?

Okay SO i'm kind of picky for it- so i'll say B.
Slow burn is hard, because when it's good it's GOOD, but it also relies on the skill of the writer much more than a lot of other tropes. The rest of the plot has to be just as interesting as the couples dynamic to keep me engaged you know? If I don't love everything else going on in the fic, then it's easy to dip out! However, a really great slow burn will leave me thinking about a fic for YEARS. This is why I struggle writing slow burn, it's hard to maintain a plot!!

The fanfiction is all decorated with little hearts and stars. With a roll of her eyes, Mariko braces for what she's about to read.
"So that's what you really look like!" Mariko gasped. "Why hiding like that for such a long time? I don't get it."
"I could not bear it, Mariko," Nucleotide sighed. "With a face like mine, what chances did I have? Someone like me, with someone like you... It could never happen. Who could ever learn to love a monster?"
Nucleotide lowered his head and shook it with a miserable frown. Mariko smiled; she reached for his face and gently cupped it with her hands.
"You're not a monster," she whispered. "You saved me, you took care of me. Look doesn't matter. Don't you know?" She smiled a moment before leaning towards him. "Real beauty is found within."

This one had gothic characters, rich and dense, light purple against a dark screen. Mariko approached the text with a distrustful frown, bracing for whatever could be coming with a font like that.
"Come with me, Mariko." The Arcosian prince wrapped his strong arms around her waist in a firm embrace. "You and I shall take over my father's kingdom, get rid of Frieza once and for all. Become my Queen, and soon..." Cooler lifted her chin with a finger. "Soon, I'll make you an Empress. The galaxy, no, the whole universe shall be yours. Every planet will know about Mariko, the Empress who saved them from Frieza's tyranny!"
"But... I am Conton's Hero of Time!" Mariko stammered a faint protest, her knees growing weak in that determined embrace. "Chronoa would never allow that...!"
"Then," Cooler grinned, a moment before leaning towards her, "I shall make you a goddess."
"..."
"... I think I might save this one. Empress of the Galaxy doesn't sound too bad after all..."
