Happy Sunday! It’s Easter week, a week about faith, death and new life, which is one reason I’m so pleased to share this unique opportunity Emily and I had to share our story in the context of faith. - - In the This is the Gospel podcast, our amazing host, KaRyn Lay, sets us up to tell two specific stories, the first one by me, and the second by Emily. (Link to podcast in bio) - - I just finished listening to it and was surprised how down my guard was. I heard myself saying things I haven’t told many people and didn’t have space to include in the book: “Despite looking across the water at the Statue of Liberty, I truly had never felt more trapped in my life... I was bringing home so little money Emily had started to open up the food storage we kept in our apartment in case of emergency... All I wanted to do was provide for my family and I was tired of feeling like a failure.” I feel pretty vulnerable putting this one out there, but I’m going to do it anyway. Thanks for being trustworthy. - - And Emily’s story is beautiful. I learned so much listening to her tell it. Uninterrupted by me, she talks about her kooky and awesome grandmother, her real childhood worries and her early years of our life in New York City.
