              she  walks  into  his  store ,   easily  finding  the  drinks  section .     if  she’s  going  to  forget  about  how  fucked  up  her  life  is  right  now ,   she’s  going  to  need  something  strong  and ,   being  that  he  is  literally  a  drug  dealer ,   he’s  not  going  to  give  her  the  no  selling  alcohol  to  people  who  are  underage  shit ,   right ?     she  looks  at  the  drinks ,   picking  her  poison ,   fingers  reaching  for  a  bottle .     after  a   moment  thinking  to  herself ,   she  scans  the  area  before  walking  up  to  him .     “    i’m  gonna  need  something  a  bit  stronger  than  that .     the  pretzels  at  the  carnival  were  amazing ,   by  the  way .     ”

     an empty seat. the entire first half. empty. lonely. something that screamed at her. had she imagined everything? her thoughts running away with her. the feeling of a calloused hand on hers, warm and safe. such a far away image now. fading. so out of reach, how had she ever grasped it in the first place? so many hours spent on the phone, talking, divulging life stories. worries, fears. things he took on and eased with such an easy manner. how? would her heart break for something that never really began? thoughts swirl and her focus is shot. because of him. because of an empty seat. saved instead for a bouquet of red roses and a card on her dressing table. addressed to her. just her. and the boy beside them. in a suit.  ❛ i thought you.... ---- i thought you didn’t come.... ❜    had he ever looked so suave? so put together? she’d take him either way. slouching on his couch in a long tee, or in a suit with no tie. he looked handsome. and all for her?      ❛ they’re for me? ❜    hands take the stems, red petalled roses brought closer so she could smell the sweet perfume. beautiful. long stemmed. perfect with baby’s breath. the kind you spent money on, the kind you gave someone to impress. and impressed she was.     ❛ i’m really glad you made it. ❜
