This is my mom's fern πΏ she received at her wedding π shower in 1957 from my great grandmother. She gave it to me when she went to live with my brother's family. My piece of the this fern πΏ is in my living room gifted to me when I got married in 1985. Mom loved this fern and had it in her east window for almost 60 years. I recently gave mom a piece propagated from her fern πΏ for her room, so it is back with her. I will see mom today over Zoom and am thankful for that. While shopping for plants, I've never seen other Platyceriums other than bifurcatum (commonly called "Staghorn fern") so I was super excited to find this one - the tag said Platycerium grande. This particular specimen was acquired while still "short" sized but you can see this slight protrusion (π· 2) becomes the crown when the plant reaches a "Venti" size (π· 3). Look closely at the differences between this and the Platycerium bifurcatum (π· 4). Happy Halloween! . I'm not scared about this Davallia fejeensis (rabbit's foot fern) having no drainage holes because I know it is getting enough light and I'm regularly aerating the soil.
