you and sae had broken up months ago. he had his own world, you had yours. he was too focused on soccer, you craved too much from him which he couldn’t give.

you still remember how indifferent his face was when you broke up with him. how he stood with his hands in his tracksuit pockets as you ran your mouth at him, gosh, his nonchalance pissed you off to no end. almost like he didn’t care, like he was annoyed.

he didn’t even chase after you when you slammed the door and went away. he didn’t care, he never did. 

not even about the promises you both made, not about when he whispered those sweet words against your bare skin at night. not about when you poured your heart out to him and he took it all.

so why is it that he ends up in your bed time and time again? every other night, he’s always there. you’re laying your head on his arm—which is gradually going numb—and he is scrolling through tiktok trying not to notice how right you feel against him.

yet every morning he isn’t there, like he never was. you try texting him about it but always get left on seen. seriously, this man communicates like a toddler having a temper tantrum.

and every night he knocks on your door, like he never left. like he was always meant to be. just the sight of him makes you want to rip your hair out and run somewhere far away from him but no. you instead open the door, and he always steps in with his hands in his pockets just like the day you left him.

did you really leave him?

you know its bad for you, he’s bad for you. this is bad for the both of you, but somehow neither of you can bring yourselves to actually cut eachother off. 

you both still end up in bed.

"Amari." you say, clearly freaked out by what was on Amari's phone.

Amari looks you right in the eyes, "Listen, you're good. We're gonna take care of this." he says in a low - comforting tone.

"Yeah it's chill girl don't worry." Gunner adds.

But you were worried, Gunners fans were overly insane. You couldn't wrap your head around the fact that you got caught, and all you were doing was talking. You wished you could be as calm as Amari and Gunner, but you couldn't, and you had no clue how they could.

You begin to feel tears forming, and that big lump in your throat. Without saying anything you leave the room and go straight to your bedroom. Even though the situation was still small you were out of your mind worried. Amari followed behind you, he sat right next to you on the edge of the bed.

"Whatcha thinking?" he asks. You had no clue what you were thinking, every path in your brain had a thought in it. There was not one single thought. "I don't know, I'm just making it a big deal." you reply.

"Hey, you're not making it a big deal, his fans are batshit." he reassures, his words make you chuckle. "Why don't you talk to him? You've barely given him a chance." he asks.

You sit for a second debating on if you should or not, there was really no reason not to talk to him. It was just your brain getting in the way. Finally, you agree.

"Okay" you tell Amari. Your tears had slowed, your breathing was normal. Now it was just time to talk.

"You good?" he asked as he sat beside u. You nod your head and sniffle.

"I ain't gonna let them attack you ma, you're different and I can tell." he says. "What does that mean?" you giggle nervously.

"I can just tell you're not all about the money and shit, I like that."

"Oh, thank you." you reply. "I'm gonna take care of you, I promise." he says softly.

His voice is calm and comforting, Amari was right. He was worth a shot, in less than five minutes he had reassured the worries right out of your head. "I gotta get outta here, I'll have Mari give you my number, hit my line if you need anything." he says, standing up.

"Thank you Gunner."
