Hey, just a suggestion, what about Merette for the ship name between Merante and Odette? I know you've been using Merdette but it does have the french word for 'shit' in it, whereas Merette means 'It's Worth It' in Finnish. But yeah, just thought I'd tell you what ship name I'd come up with that's all, since you're the main person in the existing ship tag
Okay, letâsdiscuss â how should we call Odette and Merante as a pairing?
The way Isee it, it is more fitting for a shipname of two French characters to contain aFrench word than a Finnish word, even if itâs a swear word (Fact: When peopleare presented with a list of words from an unknown language and asked whichthey like best, they tend to pick swear words). Also, Merdette sounds a littlebit like âmurderâ and itâs a pairing to die for ^_^
On aserious note: Merette is a decent shipname. I may be a little biased towardsit, since âMeretteâ reminds me too much of âEretâ â a name of a character from âHowto train your dragon 2â, but thatâs a detail. I wonder if the Finnish âmeretteâand the English âmeritâ have a common origin. Like Norse  :-)
I alsoconsidered calling the two of them âMr. and Mrs. Caneâ, or âthe Canesâ sincethey both use canes. Moreover, the ship sucked me in like a hurricane, so thatâsanother cane ^_^
Anotherfunny option is âOde to Rantâ (wow, I am getting ridiculous XD).
Anyway, itis not up to a single person to decide on a shipname. If majority of fansaccept something, then this is what stays for good. Back when HTTYD2 firstpremiered, there were like 3 common shipnames for Hiccupâs parents: Stalka,Stoyka and Valick. Stalka won eventually. We have yet to see the same processfor Ballerina/Leap!
As far asthe other popular pairing from the movie is concerned: Iâve seen people use theshipname âFelictorâ. Iâd rather call them âViccieâ, since it reminds me of theLatin âvictisâ (âGloria victisâ = âGlory winsâ). Alas, the majority willdecide.
