you know. i think both things can be true at once. i think there is a cycle that must end, and at the same time, there is a house that must endure.
i think the cycle that must end is the pain that you - any of us - you reading this, me writing this, the world at large, vessel as a persona, and even the man behind the mask himself - have suffered so deeply that it has become foundational. i think it's fair to say that many if not all of us who this music connects with, we all have some kind of pain real deep in us that we've built a part of ourselves around. and i think sleep token gives us a space where we can handle that pain... and a space where we can, when and where possible, choose to break free from it.
and i think the house that must endure is the one we have built - or are building - together. connections we have forged. progress that we've made. things we've realized, worked through, accomplished, lived to see. honestly, i'd say sleep token as an entity is the house, i'd say the connections we've made through the music are the house, i'd say those of us standing against the injustices of the world are the house.
i'd say we get to build a house made of cycle breakers... and i'd say we must endure. we must encourage, uplift, and support each other. emotionally, spiritually, materially... all of it.
and this is why i never chose a side.
to me, they are two sides of a coin. they are two steps in a process. because if you break a cycle, you must start something new. you must endure that breaking. and when you start that something new, when you have rebuilt - that is worth defending. you must endure.
i am having a bit of a spiritual moment with this concept on the fandom blog, forgive me. something is resonating real fuckin deep with where im at personally right now and i need to say it. your mileage may vary.
