I’ve been thinking about what Fëanáro and Nerdanel’s daughter would be called. And their ship name, Fëanel, sounds absolutely amazing. Also, Finwë and Indis already named their daughter Findis — which is likewise constructed from their names.
Assuming that reason (Nerdanel and literally everyone else) manages to convince the newly minted girl-dad that naming a baby after MĂriel would probably entail a disturbing foreboding, and considering that it’s rather difficult to fit “Finwë” into a feminine name… FĂ«anel is a wonderful option.
Also, for some reason I really want Fëanáro to have a daughter. Moderately wild and constantly roaming the forests with Tyelkormo and Irissë. And, realistically speaking, spoiled rotten.
On a darker note, I think she would also have followed her father and brothers to Middle-earth and taken Fëanáro’s Oath. Perhaps I just need a morally ambiguous female character who pursues her agenda in not exactly righteous way.
