valbar is a very friendly guy, someone who gets along with pretty much everyone around him

but because he's so kind to everyone, it's hard to know when he's just being nice and when he's being flirty

he isn't the type for pick up lines or anything of the sorts and instead tries to be direct with you

yet when he asks you out for a drink and you suggest that he brings kamui and leon along, he can't help but awkwardly laugh

the next time he asks you out, you once again suggest the same thing. and then the time after that you ask for leon and kamui to come along too

valbar can't help but think that asking you out won't be enough to get you to realize he likes you

so he tries to confess to you directly, telling you he loves you! 

at first, he's happy when you confess that you love him too, but when you add "you're my best friend after all!" he can't help but once again laugh awkwardly

it seems that whatever he tells you, he just can't get you to understand his feelings, but maybe he'll figure out a way eventually…

6. Valbar

You know, I really feel like I selled armor units short when I first got into Fire Emblem. The decreased movement and slow speed didn’t suit well with me, since I like to have my units able to cover a lot of ground and be fast enough to reliably kill enemies. But once I got the hang of how to use them, mostly because of Effie, I had a newfound appreciation for these walking walls.

And that really helped in making me really enjoy Valbar.

Considering this is a game where you will always take damage from any attack that hits you, even if you have defenses that rivals titanium, you’re gonna want units that have a lot of health to spare to make it easier. And not only does Valbar have a lot of defense, he has plenty of health alongside it. This guarantees him the title of chokepoint boss as most enemies that hit with physical attacks may as well be smacking him with with a feather duster. And while it may be hard to use him in the later half of the game since you will be facing a lot of mages and be dealing with swamp levels that give most of your units the middle finger, if you play smart and give him the best weapon (the Gradivus in particular works wonders for him), he can still be of great use.

And even if Valbar was just a middle of the road armored knight, he still manages to be a lovable character.

Sure his screen time is limited, but his little story arc of wanting to take down the pirate king to avenge the death of his family was enough to make me sympathize with him and I love the way he plays off of Kamui and Leon. I honestly want an entire game centered entirely around these three and the type of adventures they could go on. Still have no idea why he can’t support with Kamui (God damn it IS).

But, regardless of the hiccups, I’m still proud that I came to admire him so much. And as much as I don’t like armored knights in Heroes, I really am looking forward to the day he gets added in.

Seriously, I have male Corrin, Niles and Leon maxed out at 5 stars. All I need is Valbar and I can make a team called “Gay Emblem”. It’s the third item on my Heroes bucket list, the two above it being max out Shura the moment I get my hands on him and make Subaki the most op unit the meta has ever seen.
