I don't really like Diamant or King Morion. I've barely known them, and Morion was angering me so much I had to look him up. Glad he dies, but I'm annoyed we're supposed to care about a neanderthal of a man who loves warfare and who clearly isn't a good father. He acts like he's a 15 year old jerk still in grade 9 of High School. Like all those obnoxious kids I wanted to scream at in school.
Diamant is only annoying because he hasn't managed to stand up to his idiot father and because he's clearly the favoured golden child in the family. Alcryst has his inferiority complex for a reason, I insist on that. I feel like others are better than me sometimes too, but I can't see Alcryst simply just being insecure and ashamed of himself. I get that way, but I'm not royalty or a second son. The fact that his brother is the hero, the swordsman who will one day be king... I'm just betting the kingdom thinks of Alcryst as weak for his choice of the bow. This kingdom is a warrior society, and warriors pride themselves on martial strength. Diamant is adored because he's strong, Alcryst is overlooked because he isn't stereotypically strong. I'm not seeing the appeal of this family.
And don't get me started on Ivy and Hortensia. They seem awful too, although their designs are actually really fun. I'm mainly annoyed that I heard rumours and hearsay that Ivy ends up basically worshipping the Divine Dragon, and I'm sick of everyone treating Alear like he's special because he's the divine dragon. This cast list is fun, but sometimes it's also obnoxious. Thank gods I already have some characters I adore.
