It’s been a million years since I’ve posted anything so have a sketch of a new character I cooked up that’s been on my brain for a little while.
No name for her yet, but she plays an important role in Petra’s journey to Baldur’s Gate in the pre-BG3 events backstory fic I’m currently writing.
Her design is subject to change as it is my first attempt at putting her on a canvas, but very pleased thus far.
I feel this needs to be said because it pisses me off whenever I see people not doing their research on this.
Satyr: Greek mythology. Associated with Dionysus, they’re drinkers and merrymakers and lustful little menaces. Generally having more animalistic features.
Faun: Roman mythology. Associated with life, land fertility and natural harmony.
Both: half animal and half human entities.
Note: I am also fairly certain that they’re mythologically all men (I recall Satyrs being born of Nymphs, but I can’t find the article on it, please do your own research). Just drives me nuts a bit when I try to find inspo and they’re all women… I’m highly pedantic, and it’s likely just a me problem.
