It is interesting how anime/manga fanartists have like, adapted to the biased stylistic norms of the media. Falin Touden is not fat in the series, nor the official art by Ryoko Kui, but she looks much less thin, much less Daintily Built than the typical anime girl (who you need tweezers to pick up). She's literally just a realistically thin woman, but realistically thin is so much less than anime thin that a large chunk of the fandom reads Falin as being a little fat.
