Hey, hey, hey! The Adventures of Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids is a Saturday morning cartoon series created by Bill Cosby and produced by Filmation. The show centers on a group of youngsters in a North Philadelphia neighborhood having adventures and learning important life lessons. The episodes take on numerous issues, ranging from responsibility, leadership, how to contend with bullying, first loves, racism, sexism, vandalism and stealing.
The episodes’ educational lessons are summarized and expounded on in live-action segments featuring Cosby himself. The gang typically joins in a junkyard to play a song on their cobbled-together instruments, recapping the show's lesson.
Premiering in September of 1972, the show ran for eight seasons. Cosby voiced the titular Fat Albert. The rest of the voice cast included Jan Crawford, Gerald Edwards, Eric Suter, Lou Scheimer, Frank Welker, Linda Gary and Greg Morris.
