R.I.P. LANCE REDDICK:
Man with the deep voice
Brought a dignified presence
Mainstay for many
Just gonna be that guy and say it, Star Vs the Forces of Evil did a better story about monsters not being the bad guys than Farzar. Also, why are the black characters in the Brickleverse either drug addicts or antagonists?
Spoilers for 'Farzar' but also if you have any sense at all you won't watch this series anyway
The trailer question "Is this Futurama or Rick&Morty" has a straightforward answer, it is all the worst parts of R&M and every other adult swim show with none of the insightful and VERY few of the funny parts. Every rare joke that lands would have been better in another show. I won't bother to untangle all the sexism and racism here.
But I DO give it credit for a decent parody of liberals (communist definition of liberals, not confederate definition):
In the very first episode the space prince learns that his father, the titular King Farzar, is actually the bad guy committing genocide against the aliens who's planet the humans colonized. "Are we the baddies?" - yes, absolutely.
So since his father has ALSO always been abusive to him, he does a She-Ra and joins the native resistance. But just as he is sneaking up on his father to assassinate him, he overhears him saying that he actually loves his son.
So the prince turns around once again and says look, he is space Hitler, but he is still my daddy, he is still family. So the aliens say ok but he is also still space Hitler?
So the prince says don't worry there is another way to stop the genocide - he decapitates the alien leader and presents the head to his father.
His plan is to earn his respect as a man so he can THEN talk him out of the genocide.
His dad says no.
And I don't think I have ever seen a better parody of "reaching across the isle" and possibly America as a country
