I think I am accepting the fact that I probably need glasses.
Astigmatism runs in the family and I am already a little farsighted. I kind of denied needing glasses bc I didn't think my vision was bad enough to warrant them.
Until I realized that I had to squint to read the measurements on some instant potatoes. (Ik using instant taters is a sin but real mashed potatoes take too long. Bite me.)
Yeah. I probably need glasses. At least it would add a new element to my fursona (get it? its because im as blind as a bat even though thats a myth but idgaf).
Reasons I probably should have realized I need glasses way sooner (near sighted in one eye, extremely far sighted in the other, astigmatism):
- horrible depth perception
- closing one of my eyes makes everything horribly blurry
- trying on my friends glasses (similar prescription) and going "wow I thought it would be blurry, I see great"
- I had zero concept of other people's attractiveness, honestly even now I don't really believe that ugly people exist, but it was like "hey look at this person" "wow that sure is a person! That I can see!"
- horrible horrible eye strain headaches almost everyday
Since I’m pissed at authors for making glasses seem bad I made an ACCURATE pros and cons list of having glasses
Pros:
It’s really fun seeing all the options of frames and getting to choose one
Being able to see clearly for the first time is one of the best experiences someone can have
Glasses can actually make you look way better appearance-wise
If you don’t want to see someone/something just take your glasses off
You can be more expressive with glasses
You can use the arms of the frames to pull things closer to you
They come with fun little cases
Never in my life have I been made fun of or seen someone else being made fun of for wearing glasses
You can get special lenses that get darker in the sunlight
You can put them on an inanimate object to make a little friend
Cons:
They can get dirty/broken/lost pretty easily
Sometimes the frames you want are too big/small for your face
If they’re too loose they can fall off your face when put your head down
If they fall into a crevice good luck I guess
They’re really expensive
Eye appointments can be boring/uncomfortable (editing to mention something about eye appointments; there’s a test they sometimes do where you put your face on this machine and it blows air into your eyes… you’re also not allowed to blink when it happens :D)
If you need glasses but don't have them everything fucking sucks
I may update this if I think of anything else
