The white vault had unfortunately one of the most disappointing endings I've heard in a podcast lol it suffers from the writer's other problems. Spoilers below
Talk about a lack of resolution. I get what they were going for, but it did not deliver at all.
The biggest issue is that things are just happening to the characters. It almost never feels like they're taking action, even when they are. I mean, the escaping the cave and the rock fall scene was so...bland? How the fuck is that the end?! It had such a strong start, too.
This is the same issue that plagued Vast Horizon. It was PAINFUL to listen to because everything was just happening to Nolira after s2 and she didn't take any action. She was completely passive to the narrative, and I listened purely to have done so and have a full opinion on it.
In s1, Nolira is active and a decision maker. then after that she wanders around being judged by people, who apparently don't want to like. kick her in the face for taking over the ship?? they just let her wander around unchallenged??? Anyway I have a lot of thoughts about how that one had such potential and made no sense in so many ways
At least in TWV there were actions taken, but it almost felt like they were secondary to what was going on around them.

Been listening to derelict on my way to work and the main issue I have with the show is the women are written as emotional and make the mistakes and the men are written as smart, willing to make sacrifices, and always focused on getting the job done. So of course the women are set up to be reviled by the audience for making dumb choices. If only they'd listen to the men π π really hoping as I finish s1 this will change in the future because of its always female characters being emotional and getting manipulated I'm out lol
