The sound of harsh pants and feet dashing through the underbrush filled the near silent forest. Amari knew the forest well, attuned to the rustle of the leaves, the quiet sounds of animals nearby. Her wind chimes making soft noises in the wind. Honey brown eyes catching the height of the sun, a small grin gracing her soft face, his hour was nearly up.

“Urxies you’re doing it wrong-“ Her voice rang out in the clearing, her usual gentle mousy tone, sharp from stress and exaughstion as she watched the teifling before her work on skinning their most recent catch, a young buck. He had missed the first shot originally, landing in the poor bucks shoulder, his second arrow quickly finishing it off. But the combination of the sour morning Amari already had and now the messy kill, and according to her an even messier preparation of the carcass had the poor half elf’s nerves even more fried.

Shooing the taller man away from the body she leaned over and started skinning it herself. Hands steady as she seemed to softly coo to the dead animal, thanking it for its life. “I know how to skin an animal Amari, I’ve been hunting for years now” Urxies rough voice cut through the air as he crouched behind the stout woman.

“Not better than me apparently, I could have killed it quicker, by the forest I bet you would have failed to even catch me given the chance!” She didn’t mean to snap, to poke at him but she did anyway. She opened her mouth once more to apologize before his voice cut her off, gravely and deep.

“Wanna bet?”

Now Amari darted through the woods, her woods grinning like she already one, Urxies had one hour to find her and his time was nearly up. Her ginger hair loosing its updo as she ran, pale skin glinting in the sparse sunlight glaring through branches. Then she heard it, the sound of sudden quick snap, before she toppled over foot snagged in a simple snare trap. She landed in the dirt with a soft “Oof. Quickly trying to sit up to undo the snare she paused as a low gravely chuckle drifted through the trees, Urxies slowly stepping out of the shadows, purple skin glinting in the sunlight, his long tail swaying back and forth.
