Shotting Knife (weapon idea)
Here's one for you DM's that want a surprise range weapon.
Appearance: A regular looking switch blade, that has the blade pop out from within the handle. Thiers a strange button on the bottom of the handle for some reason...
Description: This knife, made by an assassin who liked to build their own equipment, allows for the knife's blade to be shot out! This allows for a more likely critical hit zone, but should only be used in emergencies. Reloading the knife in the blade take's a turn, or longer, considering blade replacements for this are quite rare, & usually have to be self made or custom ordered.
Attribute: Deal's 1d4+dex damage
-Blade can be shot out 15 feet for the same amount of damage
-When blade is shot out, 18-20 are considered critical hits.
-Shooting the blade is a bonus action
-Reloading the blade is an action

If I Were to Play D&D...This would be my character...
There are many different species of animal on Ichieryma, some have been domesticated but the majority are still wild. In recent years due, to the expansion of civilisation, some species have become extinct such as the Orisian Colossal Frog.
During The Founding a lot of aggressive species were eradicated. One of these species, the dulners, have been completely wiped out in the early years of The Founding. These were large bipedal creatures who wandered around the continent’s wooded areas in large troops of between fifty and two hundred individuals. Records show they were well above eight foot in height with long forearms and entirely covered in brown or black shaggy fur. A dulner was completely carnivorous and their main diet was humanoid species such as elves or humans. Only a few records remain of the dulners, due to this all that is known about them is appearance and diet. Most scholars categorise them as beasts since there is left no evidence of tool use or language. All records of them are found on old tapestries that are worn and faded, making understanding them difficult. However, one other record of them exists, an old poem from Eard;
On darkest night at winters peak a village the dark beasts did sneak For they pray upon the old and weak And leave nothing more than bones
They surrounded the town three hundred strong with teeth too big and arms too long they crept in the night with no sound nor song For they hunt their prey tonight
The town guard sees too late To protect them from their grizzly fate And before they could even bar the gate The dulner stampeded in
The folk awoken and try as they might With scythe and fork attempt to fight But the dulner were one and half their height and strength beyond mortal ken
They devoured judge and mayor and priest for none were safe from the beast And all took part in their midnight feast and screams filled the night
The morning comes and a silence fell the town is now nothing but a shell for the dulner march out as well and leave nothing more than bones
Though obviously a work of fiction this is the best description of the dulners which has survived to present day.
A more modern threat is a giant sea creature called vellon, a giant squid like creature that is a distant cousin to the kraken. Generally smaller and less intelligent than krackens, vellons are a persistant danger to seafaring ships. They are about fifty feet in length and each tentacle can be as thick as a human. There are many sub-species of vellon: the common vellon which is the largest in size and the most aggressive, the poisonous vellon which mostly green and blue in shade but only grows to about forty feet, and the chameleon vellon who is widely considered the most dangerous due it’s camouflage. Whole swarms can approach a ship and attack without warning. Vellons traditionally stay out in open waters but in recent years they have been coming more and more inland. There has been one instance of vellon attack on the port city of Middenport. This influx of vellon swarms are considered a bad omen by sailors.

World Building June: Day 10 Language
The main language of Ichieryma is the Common Tongue, an amalgamation of various languages but is heavily based in elvish. Common is spoken across the entire continent and is the first language of: Asteria, Kanoy, New Tureth and The Triarchy. New Tureth still have remnants of its old language but when they landed on the eastern shores of Ichieryma they relied heavily on the support of other people and had to acclimate quickly.
The language of nobles and academics is Elvish, this is the language of magic and science. No scholar or classically trained mage can be held in any regard without being able to speak Elvish fluently. On the continent it is only spoken casually in Lide and the surrounding forests. Technically academic Elvish and Lide Elvish are the same language, but over the past thousand years they have diverged somewhat. One could understand the other, but they are required to speak very slowly and clearly. The second most widely spoken language, after Common, is Orisian from Oro in the north-west of Ichieryma. Shortly after The Founding the people of Oro decided to become explorers of the Siemar Ocean. Many islands have been named and settled by these explores and thus their language and culture has spread across; the Crescent Coast, the Siemar Ocean and the Isperas Islands. A secondary language has sprouted from Orisian called Sailor Tongue. This is spoken by the sailors of the Crescent Coast and is almost more popular than Common in Middenport. Though it is generally considered an uncouth language and not to be used in polite conversation, it is slowly gaining popularity among merchant captains. It is said that one of the greatest naval geniuses of our time, Admiral Fitzner, speaks in Sailor behind closed doors. The strangest and most difficult language is Baelish, spoken in Baelden. A very phonetic language where a lot of sounds are produced at the back of the throat. The Baelish people are mocked for their strange and difficult language, a common phrase people use is ‘might as well be speaking Baelish’. Which means either they do not understand or what the speaker is saying sounds like gibberish. The language is split up into two forms of Baelish; Common Baelish and High Baelish. Common Baelish is the language spoken by the common folk and has origins long before The Founding. It is peppered with slang that original meanings have long since passed in the annuls of time. High Baelish, spoken by the nobles of the country, originated from Common Baelish but is laced with Common and Elvish words. Usually if someone hears Baelish outside of Baelden it will be High Baelish, spoken by wealthy merchants and envoys.
