Don't get me wrong I love being part of fandom as it introduced me to several like-minded people who are now some of my closest friends.

But while I got new friends it ruined my show-watching experience i.e. it ruined the way I enjoyed a particular show .

I used to think it is just me and my weird theory but now that theory has been proved by two shows. Looking at my header and profile picture you may have realised that I am huge fan of Supernatural. Now until Season 6 I was enjoying the show without any drama, I didn't know about the rivalry between wincest, hatters, hetters, bibros, hellers or minions nor did I care. I was happy with my show, I used to read the fics that I liked without anyone shaming me.

In Season7, I spoke to J2 and it was amazing, my faves were sweetest people unlike some of the asshole celebs. I wanted to share my experience of speaking to J2 and that is how I came across the fandom.

The fandom welcomed me with the open arms, I made several friends but I realized my love for the show started diminishing. Soon I came to know about the rivalry and got ship shamed, I was told what to read and what not to do by a stranger online. I saw few haters diminishing my faves image and slowly I started disliking the show that I once loved. Unknowingly I started watching the show from someone else's perspective. A fan in me before joining the fandom wouldn't have cared if the writer is baiting or not. But joining the fandom, I started focusing on this unnecessary things. The forced inclusion of characters became quite apparent which inturn ruined the overall show watching experience.

Now this view depend on individual perspective, some might feel or say that I was being ignorant before but for me it ruined the experience.

Do I regret joining fandom? No.

Do I miss my show and the simple times? Yes.

Also, as I said before I wasn't sure about the theory of Fandom ruining show-watching experience but my theory was proved right when same thing happened with other show - Modern Family. I also found other fans who thought the same thing.

Only difference between Modern Family and Supernatural was that the later is still running. Modern Family ended with Season 11 and I decided to take a peek in fandom as I was missing Modern Family. Soon, I realized there were fans who had issue with several plot lines but when I looked back at my experience I enjoyed that plot line coz I wasn't thinking about whether it is right or wrong. For me that show was a work of fiction made for entertainment and I was consuming it as entertainment. I wasn't comparing it to the real world. And I realised that this is exactly why the show-watching experience gets ruined. People forget that the show they are watching is pure work of fiction and starts comparing to reality. The moment it mixes with reality the essence is lost and you live in limbo where you don't know the purpose behind thing that you are watching.

When I was reading Uncanny Inhumans #0 I completely missed that Black Bolt was the ACTUAL REASON OF TUNGUSKA EVENT LMAO

I hate Donny Cates' work and I must RANT. Profoundly.

There’s one particular problem: Wanda’s heartfelt wishes never work out “as intended”.

Layla Millerwho had very different set of mutant powers prior to House of M and the crucial role in the events of this series is one good example. And we know that Wanda’s “No more mutants!” hasn’t really stuck for long and didn’t affect more than a hundred of mutants from the start. Yes, this is a meta-problem due to the specifics of comics continuity and business but we still have to consider it. In-world it shows that Wanda’s reality warping is flawed and/or that she’s not rationally evil, cruel or tyrannical. She’s in pain. That makes her decisions and wishes powerful and spiteful, yet sporadic. I digressed for a reason: I don’t believe that removing Magneto from the existence would be permanent (Legion tried) - not only because of the editorial reasons but because Wanda desperately wants to work things out, to find some peace, to find her place. Her “just stop” reaction is a knee-jerk kicking the problems away. And she knows deep down it won’t help her in the end and is not the right way.

But, yeah, it could have affected the course of the history drastically. My first thought was of Charles Xavier and Gabi Haller in Israel, they could have been dead if Erik wasn’t there, sooo: no X-Men, then another yet worse Age of Apocalypse would happen, affecting mutants, humans and inhumans alike. Not nice.

Was reading this queer Johnny post by @fyeahfantasticfour and decided to google a trill. The only article marvel-wiki has on them is for an alien of that race. Not the one Johnny dated, nonetheless, they look like this:

Shipping two people together is a relatively new hobby I’d like to think, having  developed really in the past five years, beginning mostly with One Direction. With One Direction being the catalyst, I can safely say that it exploded from then on. Since then, shipping has become commonplace. It’s not weird to see two people and become so obsessed with them that you find yourself running three fandom blogs and writing so much fanfiction you literally run out of space on your desktop to store it. Not weird.

It’s also not weird to ship two people who are clearly never going to get together, because, simply put, shipping is fun. Just like writing, or drawing, or playing sports, shipping is fun. Sure, it’s not a particularly active or beneficial hobby, but that doesn’t lessen the joy people get out of it.

My ships are my distraction. They mean so much to me, both as non-tangible entities and as actual human beings. I love each and every one of my ships dearly as if they were a close friend, and I truly care for their well-being. Whenever I’m sad or frustrated or angry or anything less than content, I turn to my tumblr blogs. I scroll through their tags and without fail, they all illicit a smile from me.

Though some people may say that my OTPs are insignificant and juvenile, I carefully disagree. Celebrating and supporting the love that two people share, even at the most basic platonic level, is something that is so extremely mature I can’t even wrap my head around it. To be able to pick out and identify a connection that strong and to be able to take it to create your own happiness is an art form in itself. And sure, maybe I’m romanticizing it a bit too much, but it’s just how I feel.
