If TADC is any indicator, it's becoming increasingly apparent that it really doesn't matter what the source material is, Creators simply need to set their boundaries and keep their distance. Over and over again social media has been the means by which fans harass creatives to try to control what they do and don't make and what they do and don't do with their own works.
Because it's just so much easier to make someone's experiance online hell than to actually make something yourself or just move on from a disappointing development.
It's one thing to critique matters of skill amongst yourselves and your peers, its another to take frustration with creative choices out on a creator or shove critique they didn't ask for down their throats by harassing them.
And it's another to be so entitled to someone else's work that the slightest inconveinence (the theatrical release) is dubbed "evil and greedy".
I don't know where these shitheads come from that get so invested in shows and games that are literally about treating those around you with respect and caring just to abuse and harass real people over fiction. But they are now loud and numerous enough to make a creator disconnect with their own work. It's getting to a point of actually affecting their ability to enjoy the creative process and appreciate the love for what they do and make.
Trifling mfs that take the joy out of everything.
I dunno what the consequenses are going to be for this and how it will change the way creators produce, distribute and interact, but I hope they figure something out. Its great to wish and hope fandoms will be better but I wouldn't bet anyone's mental health and peace of mind on it.
