It is kind of infuriating to see people actively admit they didn't give a shit when black people were being harassed and ignored. It is kind of infuriating to see that people only care about TADC sucking now that nonblack people are also hurt. It is kind of infuriating, yeah.
No one reps harder for platonic relationships in media than those who don't want to see people of color, especially black women, in happy relationships.
Specifically talking about interracial relationships in media, y'all don't care about platonic relationships until a person of color enters the show and has a chance to be with the white main character; then all of a sudden y'all become spokespeople for platonic relationships.
They do this within shows too, like with the disposable black love interest trope and the trope where they usually have a white man fall in love, flirt and sleep with a ton of women, but the second a black woman enters the picture as a new character, it is made very clear they will never have anything romantic happen between them.
I love platonic relationships, but some of you use them as an excuse because you don't want people of color to be with your favorite white character, and it shows.
It's 2026 we should not be normalizing the fact that people online had a racist or edgelord phase and that be brushed aside
