Final Thoughts😌
As you can see, social media has many impacts on fandom, and I feel like I have only gone in on a surface level! There are so many case studies and topics involving social media and fandom that I sadly do not have the time to go over. :( However, I hope you enjoyed reading my blog posts and maybe learned something new or even sparked an idea in you. Social media has become so intertwined with pop culture that it makes sense how fandom will be impacted by it! It has changed the game for fandom and how one interacts in a fandom. It also allows one to be a part of multiple fandoms so easily and have interactions with different fandoms in seconds. As a fan, I personally enjoy using social media to see the creative side of fans and for connecting with other fans. I have made many friends on social media just because we were a part of the same fandom, and I know many of you can relate. Being part of a fandom is a special experience that I am grateful to have had. :) I am excited to see how fandom evolves with social media (or even if it ends up leaving it who knows) and hope to continue studying social media and its impact on fandom. The pandemic really created an outburst of research involving social media and fandom, and I encourage you to read some of it! (it can change your perspective and how you interact in fandom 😉). Continue to learn and educate yourselves on any topics that interest you! Once again, thank you for taking the time to read my posts, and hopefully you now know how fandom utilizes social media. Don't ever be afraid to express yourself through fandom and being a fan (just please don't be toxic heh), the world needs fans and community!!! (at least I think so)
Much love,

The Future of Social Media and Fandom🤩
As social media continues to grow and change, I think that will reflect in fandom. Now that fandom has evolved to be part of social media, it will be hard to get fandom off of it. However, I do think we can also see the rise of fan magazines and mailing lists again, as people love to cycle through different media. Fandom will still exist on social media, but a hybrid of physical fandom (like fan magazines) and online fandom will become more popular. As a fan myself, I am growing more fond of having physical media, whether it is books, DVDs, CDs, etc., just because I have gotten fatigue in a sense of everything being digital. I do think, though, that because social media offers quick and accessible connectivity between fans, that aspect will continue on. As I mentioned in an earlier post, fandom is a participatory culture, and without interactions, it would not exist. Since social media is so readily available and many fans use it to communicate and interact in a fandom, it will only continue to be used for those reasons. Fandoms have adapted to new spaces and new social media platforms, so it won't be hard for them to keep up with new platforms and changes being made. If anything, I think any ethical concerns and implications of using social media may harm fandom on social media, but as long as the internet is being used, I think fandom will continue to exist on it. Because we live in a digital age, not only will fans want more physical media, but also face-to-face interactions, whether this be at meetups or conventions. Concerts are becoming huge again after the pandemic, as well as going to the movies. Having those in-person interactions as a community is something that has been missing from fandom, so I think we will see more of it. Watch parties are also pretty popular, and afterwards, a lot of fans take to social media to share their opinions with others in the fandom. This is where I see social media and fandom going towards: having in-person experiences with other fans, but still being able to connect to fans worldwide and discuss the media together. Fans will still use social media to share their creativity (fanfiction, fan art, etc.) so that other fans can enjoy and give them recognition. Social media is a space and an outlet for fandom to connect, meet, share, criticize, coordinate movements, come together, and the list goes on! Since fnadom has a taste of what that is like, it will be hard to take that away. Basically, what I am getting at after this ramble is that fandom will continue to exist on social media as long as it is here (as it makes connecting with each other, other fandoms, and creators so accessible), but will grow and adapt as social media, technology, and pop culture change.
