Fact-Checking the Narrative
Here's a thought. Who cares what anyone thinks about the fairness of fact-checking? Who cares? That's not a story. Everyone knows the story of fact-checking One side thinks the truth matters, even when it's not pretty. One side doesn't care what's true as long as it benefits them. Think about that. That's the story, and that's the story that should be told a thousand times.
The story is about Trump and the Republican Party and Fox News, TruthSocial and MAGA and how their entire existence now is based on lying to the public in order to get power.
It's disinformation, sure, but really, it's lying. It's falsehoods. It's misleading. It's blah fucking blah. It's fucking lying people. It's a few lies, then a bunch of lies, then lying as a way of life, then lying so much and so egregiously that it changes the course of a nation, and eventually lying to the point that it gets millions of people killed.
We saw the lie during the 2020 campaign and the attempted overthrow of the government of the United States of America. Before that we saw the lie that led to a million Americans dying from Covid. And let's don't forget about all the lies from 2016 to 2020 and from 2020 to 2024, and all the lies that everyone is already hearing now, all of it supported by people who have no interest in serving the people. They are happy to lie to get what they want, even if you die.
Who cares what either side thinks about fact-checking. We already know. And we already know what's true. Focus on that. Say what's true, and use plain, simple language (thank you, George Carlin) to say it. It's lying, and all that lying is going to get a lot of people hurt if we're not going to just say it out loud and say it every fucking time it happens.

DESPICABLE LIES INCOMING!
hello everyone. the merriam-webster dictionary defines "game" as "a physical or mental competition conducted according to rules with the participants in direct opposition to each other" [1]. notice that it's a competition with rules and participants are against each other. naturally, if one were to see a "gaming" channel, one would assume that games were played on said channel, no?
AND YET! the youtube channel "DanAndPhilGAMES" misleads and manipulates its audience with false advertising. as if the name itself isn't enough, the channel has been referred to as a "gaming channel" by its creators [2, 3]:
so, surely it is not the fault of the audience if they assume that this channel involves playing games. however, let's take a look at their previous four videos:
is reacting to so-called phan twitter a game? is forcing someone to watch tiktoks a game?? MUST I BRING UP TURNING SOMEBODY INTO A PIG??? it's plain to see that DanAndPhilGAMES hardly includes gaming at all. however, at this point, it should be no surprise that daniel howell and phil lester love lying.
untruthfulness is their drug and they've been high since 2009.
even their video titles themselves contain lies! in the video "Saying Goodbye Forever," (which, again, is not a game), DanAndPhil announce that, in fact, they are not saying goodbye, but rather bringing the channel back [4]! their deceitfulness has gone on for far too long. now more than ever, we must rise up against the youtube duo known as "phan." we must demand justice! NO MORE LIES! NO MORE LIES!

His address raised more questions than it answered about the war in Iran.
Trump spoke about his war in Iran in a nationally televised White House speech on Wednesday night. It was generally what we would expect from Trump – except mercifully shorter.
Tom Nichols at The Atlantic had this take on Trump's low-energy address.
His address did not come across as a wartime speech but instead was a disjointed series of complaints, brags, and exaggerations (along with a few outright lies) delivered by a man who looked and sounded tired. After his 19 minutes on the air—brisk by Trump’s standards—Americans could be forgiven for being even more concerned now than they were only a few days ago. [ ... ] The president also said things that might come back to haunt him. He vowed not to let Israel or America’s friends in the Gulf “get hurt or fail in any way, shape, or form,” as if Iran were not already inflicting damage on them. And he assured Americans that gas prices would come down. (They might, but not anytime soon.) He threatened, yet again, to bomb all of Iran’s electrical plants, a likely war crime if carried out with the completeness that Trump promised should Iran refuse to … well, do whatever it is he thinks they should do. “We are unstoppable,” he said, noting that U.S. forces were in combat against “one of the most powerful countries.” (This, too, is nonsense: It takes nothing away from U.S. military valor to admit that Iran was at best a second-tier power even before the war.) America might be unstoppable, but the American president seems to be at loose ends now that the Iranians have a chokehold on a major part of the world’s energy supply. [ ... ] If the president meant to be reassuring, however, he missed the mark. The reality, as best we can tell, is that Trump fully expected the Iranian regime to collapse in a matter of days or weeks, and he is now flummoxed to find out that a major war is a lot more complicated than he—or Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth—realized. The president’s delivery tonight was hardly a confidence-building exercise. He was, as he himself might say, low-energy—mumbling and lapsing into the repetitive phrases that come out when he’s riffing on a point instead of reading the speech in front of him.
