Today I saw some pretty cool stuff. In the first photo check out the odd cloud hole. I thought it looked like an upside down horseshoe. I’ve been told it’s a unique phenomenon called a fallstreak hole. Look it up—it’s very cool. In the second frame you can see the bottom of a sun dog. Look for the rainbow. All within a quarter turn on the beach. Arlo was not too impressed. Altocumulus + Virga = Cavum. Ce soir la Cloud Academy se lance dans les formules mathématiques 🤣. Le Cavum est l’un des nuages les plus récemment reconnus dans l’Atlas International des Nuages, en 2017 seulement. Également appelé « fallstreak hole » ou « punch hole cloud » , sa formation est un peu trop scientifique pour moi 🤓 mais en résumé un Virga de forme et les gouttes d’eau autour de font la malle sous l’effet d’un élément perturbateur (genre un avion ✈️) et d’une différence de température à l’intérieur d’un nuage haut (altocumulus ou cirrocumulus). I forgot to post this incredible morning sky from last Monday.
