âEugh, my mum keeps asking who Iâm bringing to my cousin's wedding!â Remus groaned as he checked the new message on his phone. âSheâs getting worse. Ever since Oscar and I broke up itâs all she cares about.â He shook his head and put on a high-pitched voice, imitating Hope. âReemuss,â He elongated his name like Hope did with her lilting accent. âRemus, why donât you have a nice boy to bring to Gwenâs wedding? You should go find yourself someone, Remus.â He grimaced. âLike itâs so easy. She met dad in the middle of a forest when that guy jumped out of the trees at her and dad came to her rescue. Knowing my luck, the would be murderer would fall for me.â He leaned his head back and cursed the heavens.Â
Sirius had sat there patiently listening to Remus grouse. He snatched Remusâs phone from his lap and typed a quick message to Hope.Â
âThere,â He said. âNow you have a date.â He grinned mischievously. Remus paled.Â
âWhat did you do?â He picked up his phone and gasped. âSirius! What the actual?!â His phone pinged as Hope started gushing about how happy she was and how much sheâd always loved Sirius. He had to put his phone on silent to shut it up. Sirius had messaged Hope telling her that he was bringing Sirius as his date. Sirius who heâd had a crush on for years and told his mother every little thing about it. Oh gods, this was going to be a disaster.Â
âItâll be fine, Remus. Iâll pretend to be your boyfriend for the day, and then weâll mysteriously break up, none of them will be the wiser, and it'll make your mum happy.â Remus groaned into his hands.Â
They travelled to Wales the day before the wedding and stayed at Remusâs parents house. Lyall greeted them at the door but then disappeared into his study. He was happy in there and Remus was happy he was in there, to be honest. Theyâd never quite seemed to quite understand each other and this way was easier, much to Hopeâs annoyance.Â
Hope, on the other hand, wrapped them both in her arms and cooed over Sirius.
âI knew youâd end up together. Youâre perfect for each other.â Sirius lapped it up. The only problem they had was Hope put them in Remusâs old bedroom. They hadnât thought of that when theyâd agreed to stay there. There wasnât even another spare room.Â
âItâll be fun,â Sirius beamed. âLike being back at school.âÂ
âWe never shared a bed. That was you and James,â Remus reminded him.Â
âWell, better late than never then, I guess,â Sirius responded. So that was how Remus found himself in bed with Sirius.Â
Thankfully, morning came quickly and then it was time for the wedding.Â
Everybody made a fuss about Sirius.
âHeâs so handsome Remus,â His grandmother had declared when heâd introduced him. âYou ought to put a ring on his finger, so he doesnât get away,â Sheâd said loudly. Remus went beet red.Â
âNain, you canât just yell that out!â He hushed her.Â
âAnd why not? I want to see some great grand kids before I pop my clogs, and you arenât getting any younger,â
âOh my god,â He didnât know how to handle her apart from with a gin and tonic and the bar wasnât open yet.Â
âDonât you worry, Mrs Howell, Iâll make an honest man out of him.â Sirius said, linking her arm with his and leading her away to her table. He turned and winked at Remus. Remus wished he could turn invisible.Â
By the end of the wedding, Sirius had won over all of Remusâs family and all of the grooms. In fact, more people knew who Sirius was at the wedding than knew who Remus was.Â
Remus was glad when they were on their way back to his parents house. It had been a long day. âSo,â Sirius asked him. âWhen are you going to pop the question? Your Nainâs promised me her engagement ring.â He grinned, fighting back a laugh at Remus.Â
âOh, haha, Sirius,â Remus rolled his eyes and said no more about the subject.Â
That night, much to Remusâs surprise, Sirius snuggled under his arm and rested his head on Remusâs chest.Â
âI had fun today.â Sirius told him with a sleepy voice. âYour family is really nice, and I might just steal your Nain. She was brilliant.â He turned his head to look at Remus. âThank you for letting me come.â He said quietly.Â
âYou invited yourself. I had nothing to do with it.â Remus huffed.Â
He closed his eyes hoping Sirius would take the hint. But instead, Sirius pushed up and kissed him. Remusâs eyes shot open, and he stared at Sirius.Â
âI was serious about that ring, Moony. Whenever youâre ready, Iâll be there.â Remus didnât know what to say, so he dragged Siriusâs face back to his and kissed him deeper than their first. He melted as Sirius kissed him back. âTook you long enough,â Sirius murmured against his lips. Remus had never been happier. He made a note to send a bottle of champagne to his cousin, because without her this might never have happened. Â

A/N: Happy Valentines Day, besties! This trope paired with Steve and Eddie has had me in a chokehold for a while now and I'm so happy that the lil ADHD gremlin in my brain has finally let me write the damn thing. <3
This one-shot can also be found on AO3Â here.
âYou really think thatâll work? Pretending to go on a date with you?â you asked, leaning against the counter at Family Video.
âIt better work. Personally, Iâm sick of hearing you pine over him. Heâs had a thing for you ever since you joined Hellfire but heâs completely clueless when it comes to all the hints youâve dropped,â Robin chimed in without looking up from the âreturnsâ pile of videotapes she was sorting through.
Clueless didnât even begin to cut it.
Youâd known about Eddieâs crush on you for months now, ever since Dustin slipped up and spilled the beans at lunch one day. The poor kid made you swear on your own life that you wouldnât tell Eddie you knew.
True to your word, you kept the secret and began dropping hints instead. Eddie couldnât read the room to save his life.
Any time you caught him staring, heâd break eye contact before you could smile back at him. Any time your hands accidentally touched, heâd move his hand away and play it off if you didnât keep your hand perfectly still.
âI think itâs perfect,â Steve smiled. âThereâs nothing like a bit of jealously to make you realise what you want.â
âI dunno,â you mumbled, chewing your cheek while you weighed up your options.
âWhen he sees you all dolled up, thinking itâs for me, the dots will connect. Trust me.â
âFine, Iâll find out when heâs working.â
-
Steveâs plan had been in the back of your mind the whole time youâd been sitting around the table with your fellow Hellfire members. It was a long game of highs and lows all night. Despite the distraction, youâd manage to come out of the battle victorious with a mere five health points left. The party, albeit a little bruised and battered, was one step closer to defeating Myrkul and Eddie was in a good mood.
It took the usual fifteen minutes to pack up Eddieâs maps, dice, tokens, and other various game pieces before you climbed into the passenger side of his van. âSorry for the mess,â Eddie apologised.
âYou say that every week and yet you never clean it.â
âI do, it just gets messy again,â he smirked.
You were halfway home when you glanced over at Eddie. His hair was frizzy, sticking up in places from all the near misses in battle where heâd had his hands running through it. The rings on his left hand were glowing gently from the reflection of his lit cigarette as he used it to control the steering wheel. His right hand was methodically fiddling with the busted cassette player that heâd been meaning to fix for months. As always when Eddie was concentrating, his tongue was sticking out and resting against his top lip.
âGot it!â he exclaimed as Rainbow in the Dark started blasting from the speaker, a huge grin spread across his face.
âWhen are you going to buy a new one?â you chuckled, prodding at the battered box.
âStop touching it,â he slapped your hand away. âItâll start crackling again. Iâve picked up some overtime next weekend, Iâm hoping the gents will be tipping big to impress their dates.â
âNo Valentineâs plan with anyone special then?â
âNope, just work. Doubt thereâs anyone out there who would want to spend their Valentineâs Day with the âFreak of Hawkinsâ anyway.â
âYouâd be surprised, some people like their men a little freaky.â
âWhat about you? Any plans?â he asked, the change in tone rather subtle.
For a moment, you werenât sure if you were going to go through with the plan. Steveâs words echoed through your mind listed the pros and cons. âTrust me.â
âYeah, Iâve got a date at Enzo's. At least I donât have to worry about it going bad now if youâre working, you can come over and scare him off for me.â
âThatâs great. Wow, a date. Um, yeah, Iâll fend him off for you if things go pear-shaped. Do I, uh, know the guy?â he stuttered.
âI donât want to jinx it,â you answered, remembering Robin's claims that a little bit of mystery would be the key to the whole plan working.
âOf course,â Eddie agreed, a sarcastically dumb look plastered on his face. You couldnât help but notice that this was exactly how he used to act when Dustin mentioned Steve. âWould you look at that? Here we are. Once again, dropped off in one piece, as requested.â
âYou okay, Ed?â you ask, one eyebrow raised.
âYep. Fine. Tired,â he mumbled through an unconvincing yawn. âLong game. Iâm gonna go and, uh, get some sleep. Night.â
-
âAnd he said it exactly like that?â Steve asked.
âYes, Steve, how many times do I have to go through it? He basically kicked me out of the van,â you answered.
âItâs definitely working.â
âAre you sure?â
âOne hundred percent. Wait until he finds out itâs me, heâs gonna freak.â
âHe might not react at all. Believe it or not, he is professional at work.â
âBet on it?â
âShut up.â
-
Eddie had been an asshole all week.
Jeff and Gareth got the worst of it. You, however, had been getting the silent treatment. It was Thursday lunchtime when Eddie finally acknowledged you again.
âSo, what are your plans this weekend?â Dustin asked Mike.
âMovies with El then dinner, you?â
âArcade with Will. What about you, Eddie?â
âWork and band, why?â
âItâs called small talk,â Dustin answered. âWhat is with you this week?â
âNothing, Iâm fine,â he snapped.
âTell your face that, man,â added Jeff.
âLay off it. Why donât you ask her what sheâs doing this weekend instead and leave me alone?â Eddie prompted, gesturing in your direction. He did not stick around to hear the answer, walking away dramatically.
âWell, what are you doing?â asked Dustin.
âIâve got a date,â you answered quickly and quietly, sinking into your seat as a sense of guilt began to creep up on you.
âYou what?!â asked Gareth.
âI said Iâve got a date.â
âYeah, I heard you. The fuck do you mean youâve got a date? With who?â
âDoes it matter?â you ask asked.
âEvidently it does. Iâve been taking the brunt of his crap all week and youâre telling me itâs because youâre going on a date?â
âHow was I supposed to know heâd react like this?â you quickly try to defend yourself.
âAre you blind?â Jeff asks.
âNo, but he is. Iâve dropped hints. Lots of them. If he doesnât want to acknowledge it then thatâs on him.â
-
âWow,â smiled Steve, looking you up and down. He took your hand, albeit rather dramatically, and began leading you to the car.
âSave it for the restaurant, you dingus. Does this look okay then?â you ask.
âThe dress alone might kill him, never mind the heels and hair.â
Ten minutes later, Steve parked up outside Enzo's.
âWhen we get in there, sit with your back to the bar. Youâre about to get the full Harrington charm, okay?â he asked.
âGot it.â
âHi there, table for two under Harrington,â Steve told the hostess.
âFollow me.â
âHere we are,â the hostess said as she gestured to a small table. âHere are your menus, the waiter will be over to take your order shortly.â
âThank you,â you replied, taking the seat that Steve had pulled out for you.
âSo,â you began.
âSo,â Steve replied with a grin.
âIâm not going to lie, Steve, I feel really awkward.â
âI can tell,â he responded. âRelax. Weâre just two friends, dressed up, and having a nice meal. Loosen up a little and have fun, or this isnât going to work.â
You tried to relax, really, you did. But you couldnât help shake the feeling that Eddie was burning holes into the back of your head with his staring.
âWelcome to Enzo's, my name is Ruben and Iâll be your server this evening. Any drinks to start?â
âSparkling water for me, andâŚâ Steve prompted.
âLemonade, please.â
âAwesome, Iâll get that put in at the bar for you. Any starters today?â
âDo you-â Steve began, turning his attention back to you.
âMore of a dessert person,â you answer.
âMe too,â smiled Ruben. âWhat mains would you like?â
âLasagne for me, please,â answered Steve.
âChicken Alfredo, please.â
âAwesome. Iâll get all that put in for you, enjoy your evening.â
âThank you, âpreciate that,â Steve told him before he left the table.
After a couple of minutes of the usual âhow was work?â and âhow was school?â small talk, Steveâs gaze quickly shot behind you as he sat up a little bit straighter.
âHereâs your lemonade,â Eddie announced, placing the glass down in front of you.
âThanks, Eddie. Howâs your shift?â you asked with a smile.
âSo-so. Started going downhill about twenty minutes ago,â he answered.
âNothing worse than a shitty Friday shift,â Steve chimed in.
âEvening rush,â Eddie responded, unwilling to meet Steveâs gaze. âEverything okay over here?â
âGreat, thank you,â you respond.
âHarrington,â Eddie muttered, placing Steveâs water in front of him with a little bit more force than he did the lemonade, before heading back to the bar.
âHe wonât even look at me, this is working even better than I thought,â Steve chuckled.
-
One hour and one chicken alfredo later, Ruben returned.
âWell you two are looking cosy over here,â he told you. Steve had been giving you cues on how to sit and when to laugh all evening. âHow about that dessert? I highly recommend the âbrownie and ice cream for two.â Chef special tonight.â
âSounds perfect,â answered Steve.
âAlrighty, thatâll be about ten to fifteen minutes. Any more drinks?â
âThe same again, please,â you answer.
A couple of minutes later, Steve gave another instruction.
âRest your left arm on the table.â
âWhat?â
âNow.â
Steve let out a sudden laugh and adjusted himself in his seat. He placed his arm on the table, his fingertips slightly brushing against your own.
A loud crashing noise from behind you had heads rolling to see what was going on. Every pair of eyes in the restaurant landed on Eddie.
âSorry folks,â he announced. Eddie quickly began picking up the larger shards of glass whilst another bartender brought over cloths and a broom.
âHook, line, and sinker,â Steve whispered, loud enough for only you to hear.
-
You really were getting the full Harrington charm, as promised. Steve had been feeding you brownie on and off for ten minutes, his glancing over to Eddie quickly now and again.
âItâs almost time,â Steve whispered.
âTime for what?â
âThe grand finale.â
Steve leaned in slightly and wiped the side of your mouth gently with his thumb. âIce cream,â he smirked.
âIs that really necessary?â
âOne hundred percent. On my cue, youâre going to excuse yourself to go to the bathroom,â he began.
âBut-â
âIf this whole fake date has gone to plan, which by the way has been lovely, then I do believe Munson wonât let you make it that far. Go now.â
As instructed, you excused yourself from the table and made your way towards the bathroom. Just as you got to the door you felt a hand close softly around your wrist.
âHey, can we talk?â Eddie asked.
âEverything okay?â
âNo, actually, itâs not,â he answered. Eddie glanced around before pulling you through a door labelled âstaff onlyâ.
âEddie, wha-â
âYou canât date Steve.â
âI can date whoever I like Eddie,â you respond.
âWhy him?â he asked, his hand still wrapped lightly around your wrist.
âWhy not?â
âBecause,â he began, pausing in thought. âBecause heâs⌠heâs got a reputation. Surely youâve heard all the rumours?â
âAnd we both know him well enough to know heâs not that person anymore,â you answer, your gaze locking with Eddieâs who, surprisingly, held it.
âYou just canât, please,â he pleaded.
âGive me a good enough reason as to why I shouldnât go back out there and I wonât.â
Eddie stayed silent for a few moments, his big, brown eyes locked on yours. The small staff room became stuffy all of a sudden, the air so thick it felt like you could barely breathe. You held your ground, waiting for him to speak, but he didnât. You stared back at Eddie, your eyes pleading with him to just say something. Anything.
You broke your gaze from Eddieâs and turned towards the door, ready to give up and go home. Eddieâs grip on your wrist tightened and he pulled you back towards him, using his free hand to cup your face as his lips met yours.
You werenât sure how long youâd been there, Eddie kissing you, but it felt like forever. The tension in the air vanished, leaving you with a cozy feeling deep in your stomach, where the butterflies used to live.Â
âYou can do better than him. You deserve better than him. You deserve someone who knows that you take extra sugar in your coffee when youâre studying. Someone who knows that youâre a completely evil genius in the best way possible when it comes to D&D. Someone who knows youâd rather be in bed with a book at-â he glanced at his watch, ânine oâclock at night. Someone who apparently isnât very good at making the first move.â
âYouâre clueless, you know that?â
âI am?â
âYeah,â you replied, leaning in to kiss him again.
If it wasnât for Ruben who knows how long you would have stood there, entwined together, lost in the moment.
âHey man, you heading home?â Eddie asked casually, placing a little distance between the two of you.
âI was, but turns out Iâm staying late. Guy with the hair on table twelve tipped me a hundred bucks to finish your bar shift and fetch a fresh brownie out. Said you âowe him oneâ and you can âsquare it up laterâ. Brownie will be out in five. Enjoy.â
Summary: Remus goes on a date. Sirius is not pleased.
May prompts from @wolfstarmicrofic. Chosen prompt: fake date
===========
Remus looked at Benjy's smiling face in confusion.
"You want to go on a date? With me?"
Benny laughed. "Am I so bad?"
Remus hesitated. "I don't know," he said, doubtfully. "I just..." am in love with someone else, he finished silently.
"Look," Benjy said. "We're friends, right?" At Remus's nod, he continued. "So it won't be a total bore. Plus," he said, playfully as he started walking backwards down the corridor, "It may get Black off his arse to actually do something."
Remus started. "Wait... Benjy, wait, what?" he called.
"I can't hear you!" came Benjy's voice as he turned and walked away, his voice full of laughter.
+++
"Has he seen us yet?"
Remus looked up from the menu at Benjy and frowned. "Has who seen us?"
Benjy sighed loudly and rolled his eyes. "Merlin, you're hopeless," he said, affectionately.
Benjy leaned back in his chair, looked around and smiled wickedly after seeing something in the corner behind Remus. Benjy reached out to clasp Remus's hand, stroking his thumb over the knuckles.
A loud crash came from the corner behind Remus followed by a chair scraping across the floor and Benjy laughed out loud. "Oh, yes," he said, grinning. "He's definitely seen you now."
"Moony?" came a familiar voice behind him.
"Right," Benjy said, standing up. "I'll leave you two to it." Remus hardly noticed as he walked away as he turned around to meet a pair of familiar grey eyes.
Remus and Sirius stared at each other for a long moment before Remus smiled softly.
"Hi," Remus said.
Sirius also smiled, equally softly. "Hi," he repeated.
Trying to get back into writing, don't hold me accountable for my hiatus... @wolfstarmicrofic
"Prongs! Good, you're here. Wanna help me map out the Astronomy hall?" Remus said, unnecessarily out of breath for just having skipped the last two steps.
James was standing shirtless by his bed, rummaging through his trunk, "Prongs-Moony time sounds so tempting, but alas I have a date"
"No way! Did Lily finally say yes?" Remus had been noticing the soft touches the pair had started sharing lately.
"Merlin, no, I wish. I am going on a fake date with Pads. He's hoping to see if the bloke he's seeing is possessive"
"Oh" He held back a smile "Have fun then, Jamie"
"Ah ha!" James threw on the shirt he was apparently looking for, and headed to the door, hesitating for a moment before looking back at him, "I will and I'll make sure Sirius knows you're not the jealous type"

âTheyâre gone. You can let go of my hand now.â
âMh? Oh, yeah.â His hand leaves hers after a second and with it the warmth that kept them tethered to a reality both havenât admitted yet.
The mild summer breeze carries sweet scents and distant laughter and H.R. asks daringly: âWhat if they return? Should weâkiss? To make it believable of course.â
She swallows heavily. âIf they return⌠yeah, totally.â Both stare at each other, barely breathing, as people come closer.Â
âNow?â
âNow.â
âI donât think itâs them,â she whispers against his lips.
James and Lily were on a dateâ and Sirius was not jealous, thank you very much Peter!
Having said that, he wanted to keep a close eye on things for when James inevitably put his foot in it and he had to rescue their date.Â
So he asks Remus to come along to Madam Puddifoots, but not without assuring him itâs not a date, of course.
But no one else knows itâs not a date. And everyone has been weirdly supportive of their (made up) relationshipâ Marlene going so far as to exclaim, finally- as if they had been pining over one another for years.Â
Remus was fit, sure, but Sirius had no interest in dating.Â
Which is probably why James was suspicious of the whole thing.Â
To be honest, after listing all the reasons why dating moony made senseâ in fact he had been so convincing that heâd been up half the night wondering if he should date moony.
And thank you to his genius idea of this fake date, he gets a bit of a test run on what it might be like. He has to admit, itâs not much different to when they hang out as friends. They can talk about anything, they make each other laugh. The main difference is Remus taking his hand of his own volition, whispering in his ear that Lily and James were behind them and they should see them acting coupley especially when they think Sirius and Remus arenât looking.Â
His hand was soft, though his fingers slightly calloused. Sirius wonders if itâs because of all the reading Moony does, or if he does something else with his hands thatâs slightly harder on his fingertips.Â
The fake date had just been a really nice day at Hogsmeade, really. Eating cake at Madam Puddifoots was a bit of a hilightâ he never got to do that because of itâs reputation as a sappy date spot. Heâd made a comment after his first bite that heâd have to bribe Remus to go on more dates with him, for cake that good.Â
Remus had laughed and said he could consider the extra books Sirius had bought him (because he couldnât decide) at Tomes and Scrolls a bribe in advance.
It wasnât a date, but they hesitated at the start of the path back from Hogsmeade. No one they knew was watchingâ they had finished up sooner than everyone else and hadnât felt like staying back. They glanced at their hands, not yet joined, and at each other, before Sirius held his hand out, holding his breath as he turned to the path.Â
Remus took it.
There was no door to drop the other off at, so they were all the way back in the dorms and the whole end to the fake date felt terribly anticlimactic.Â
âShould we kiss?â Sirius jokes.Â
But Remus blushes and well. Sirius would be lying if he didnât say he didnât like the way that made him feel. He always did like making the other boys cheeks flush, but heâs never made it happen this way before.Â
Sirius steps up to Remus, giving him opportunity to back away. He doesnât, and Siriusâ own breath hitches with nervesâ he hasnât done this before.Â
âShouldâŚâ Sirius trails off, glancing down from Remusâ eyes to his lips, slightly parted. He licks his own, he thinks, and then Remusâ lips are touching his own, a small surprised sound coming from Siriusâ throat.Â

"What?" Chloe asked rather innocently. Beca's response was to simply look her up and down before giving Chloe a sympathetic look. "You're dressed casually," Chloe pointed out. Beca was wearing a chic grey sweater, the materials it was made from and the tag on in probably cost more than Chloe's whole ensemble. In her arms, neatly folded, hung a cream-colored blazer that paired well with her cream-colored pants. Chloe wasn't sure what they were made off but they both looked sleek, stylish, and comfortable. The shoes Chloe already knew were expensive. It was a brand she didn't know off, but the insignia had caught her attention â Loro Piana â and it was enough to prompt Chloe to look it up before. Beca kept the make-up and accessories simple, with her hair styled back. This was casual for Beca. Not undercover, regular street clothes casual. But her own personal level of casual, one that screamed affluence over anything else.
Chloe on the other hand was wearing her favorite black suite and skirt ensemble that she wore to court a few times now. "I look good in this," Chloe insisted.
"I know, but⌠Look, Chloe. We're replacing a man and a woman, one of whom had the audacity to book the entire gallery for a private affair for two, I think it's safe to assume it's a date. And if one of them is rich enough to make private art gallery dates a thingâŚ" Beca started to explain.
"This really won't pass?" Chloe asked.
Beca looked at her wristwatch. "We still have time, and I know just the place, come on."
"Just the place for what?" Chloe had asked. But Beca didn't answer.
Instead, they found themselves in Beca's car, with Beca driving silently to some chic, invitation only type of boutique Chloe didn't even know existed. Beca had a light smile on her lips, looking a little proud of herself. When they got there, she had explained that she called ahead of time â so she already planned this from the start, Chloe thought to herself â before Chloe found herself whisked off into a dressing room to try out a few pre-selected outfits for her.
Chloe tried very hard not to chuckle, every time she had to march out and gauge Beca's reaction, "modelling" the outfits she had picked out for her.
Beca was fairly easy to read in that instance. Chloe knew she wasn't convinced every time she pressed her lips together and quirked an eyebrow, and so Chloe would march back and try the next one. Meanwhile Beca was busy looking at whatever was in the black velvety boxes brought out to her by the shop's attendants.
When Chloe stepped out with the third to the last of her pre-selected outfits on â a she knew she had found a lovely black dress with a black blazer that hugged around her figure just right â she knew she found the winner. Beca looked speechless for a minute before she motioned for one of the sales attendants to come back with a big black velvet box. Beca gingerly picked up the necklace inside. The chains were made of gold and attached to the intricate design of the pendant. Beca walked up behind Chloe and placed the necklace around her neck, careful not to touch Chloe directly. Chloe could pick up the scent of Beca's perfume, a delicate mix of floral scents. There was a softness to it that Chloe paired with the elegant yet soft casual style that Beca had for the night. Chloe couldn't help herself blush a little. It almost felt like this fake date was real.
A part of her wished it was.
Beca hummed her approval as soon as she clasped it close, proud of her own choices. The sales attendant walked up to Beca, the box still open. That's how Chloe saw the pair of earrings that matched the pendant of the necklace. Chloe's fingers briefly brushed against Beca's own as she reached for one of the earrings inside the box, sending electricity from where they momentarily touched racing through her veins, down her pulse, throughout her own being.
"Are you sure about this?" Chloe asked with a gulp, trying to squash the butterflies that were starting to wake in stir inside of her. "You're spending quite a lot for one 'date.' This might be too much."
Beca shook her head. "Not at all," she replied before looking away. She watched as Chloe put the earrings on herself. "They were made you," Beca then said rather awkwardly, turning around and walking on away before urging Chloe to follow her out.
This was bad, they have a mission to complete, but Chloe couldn't help but notice how they were both acting like teenagers
Still, a part of Chloe's mind was indulging in maybes and fantasies. Of how things would have been if she had met Beca in a different circumstance.
Beca briefly smiled and let Chloe put the earrings on by herself. Chloe kept looking back at her through the mirror but Beca's expression had become unreadable in that moment. She couldn't help but wonder if her â well, their â beloved consigliere shared the same thoughts as her.
